Legends particle pearl?
« on: November 30, 2005, 01:03:49 AM »
Anyone have any info on whether LaneMasters/Legends have any particle pearls in the works?

charlest....I know you said there were 3 balls they were working on after the Straight Flush.  Any new word on what they might be?  I sent them an email asking but have not heard back (don't have much luck getting email responses from them in the past).

I would love to see a particle pearl NS2!

JS--Neither have I.  Calling is only way to go with them.

The Answer was their last particle pearl. I recall a few people likingthat ball a lot.

No, I haven't heard anything new, beyond the Straight Flush's impending release in January, but then I haven't spoken to them in weeks.

I received an email response from Galen asking me to call him.  I spoke with him this afternoon and he was very pleasant and knowledgeable.

He told me that they always have 3 or 4 balls they are working on.  They are hoping to have 2 releases ready for January; one being the Straight Flush  (nothing specific on the second one).
He said the SF was still being tested and was still not at the point of being ready.

We also spoke about their current line-up.  I told him that when my NS2 and Kong were starting to overreact and I went to the Satisfaxion, sometimes that wasn't enough.  It either skated past the breakpoint or overreacted on the back.  That's where I was thinking a particle pearl would fit in.  He told me that the Masterpiece would be the perfect transition ball.

I told him that the numbers seemed to have the MP and the Satis close to each other but he said the numbers were deceiving.  He said that by hitting the MP with 800 grit to break the shine and then hit it with 1000 to give it a sheen I would for all intents have a particle pearl type of reaction and a perfect step down from the NS2/Kong.

I'll be calling the pro shop tomorrow

Hey fbila35, I spoke to my driller yesterday and was informed that they will be coming out with the King Kong soon. A stronger version of the Kong.

It sounds like the King Kong would overlap with the AP2 unless the look they're going for is a strong particle ball with angularity on the back, similar to what Mo is saying about the Seek and Destroy.

Balldeath....I may have to look into the Kahuna.  You're right, they are an overlooked ball.  Anyone have any experience with the Kahuna?

OmegaBowler uses one.  Here are OmegaBowler's comments on the BK. "I prefer particles an dthis ball may be the best all around particle I have ever used. forget dry and I think heavy long patterns like the PBA ones are not for it unless you ahve big hand. I dulled mine by hand to give me a 1-2 punch with the AP.

the ball carries the best of any I have used. I would like to someday pick another one and dull one and posish the other. most of my best games came with the BIG K.

OOB finish I ahd to square up on the heaver med pattern I faced. then I could swing it almost a skid snap on the breakdown. after the heads went I could swing the whole lane. after picking up an AP and dulling this one I could only use it on the fresh oil. then I think everygame was a 220 or better. I really like that ball."

My pro shop guy has one that I may take off his hands.  My Tues. night league is heavy medium <40' of Bruns. Absolute Control on newer AMF HPL...flatter> and I believe I could use it on this type of lane condition.  I have been using my NS2 on this lane condition with VERY good results but I want to save the NS2 for sport tournaments.

I have a polished big K it is worth a look i got it off another br member prettyn cheap, ball works in medium/heavy dull like i bought it and polished it has a great backend reaction on mediums with carrydown. Hits very hard and is a nice step down from a new standard which in another great ball.

Scott,

Omegabowler's comments on the Kahuna are ... ironic. Those would be my (and possibly JS's) exact same wordings for the Lanemasters Kong. As the Kong is also designated for heavier oils, the orinoy is that ours turned out GREAT for medium-light to just short of medium oil patterns. It goes long due to the low RG differential (I only get 3" or so or flare) but it turns the corner as a hard arc with excellent control. It won't flip; I had to go out to the dry due some sloppy insides and some carrydown on Tuesday. I never go outside, but this ball never overreacted once - smooth hard arc at the backend.

I wonder of the Kahuna's diamonds are better/different than the Kong's SUperCarbons, although Lanemasters says there's little difference.

When I look at the LM Kong and Legends Big Kahuna's specs. they look almost identical to me.  Core is different and as charlest says covers according to Legends/LM are very close.
