Title: Blend10 NST
Post by: dougb on April 10, 2014, 12:00:03 AM
I posted about the Blend10 OSW ("Old School Works") in another thread somewhere.

Now Bill Hall has released the NST ("New School Technology"), and while the ball is poured by 900 Global, the core and coverstock were designed by Bill.

Here's a pic of the core:

(https://www.ballreviews.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fblend10bowling.com%2F71-large_default%2Fnew-school-technology-by-blend10.jpg&hash=f40825cc401322cdc01c03b404c6a50b1d4efd4f)

And a description from his Facebook page:

Quote
Now that we have the approval to release some information about the Angled Core Insert (A.C.I.) let us explain the characteristics of the core design. With the unique core design of the A.C.I. the design will enhance the three major components of the bowling balls reaction of skid, hook, and roll. The design assist in creating a quicker rev going down the lane to get you through the first part of the three major components, starting with first being skid. The second phase of hook is enhanced as the friction of the lane catches up with the friction of the coverstock which allows the A.C.I. core to quicken the revolutions in the second phase of the three major components. As the third and final phase of roll comes into play the core and coverstock blend together to its maximum level to give you that strong impact into the pins but with a very controllable motion!!!

As for specs, in a 15 the ball has a 2.48 RG and a 0.048 differential.

And here's a pic of the ball:

I don't have it -- nor do I plan to get it -- but I bet this is a sweet ball.  It's certainly an unusual looking core!

Looks like a modified Sure Thing core, with the added slanted flip block.

I'd like to chime in on the NST, i have been throwing them for a few months now.  I have recently shot 300 in back to back weeks on the USBC white pattern, using 2 different NST's.  I have found them to be versatile, and very reliable pieces.  I have 1 drilled pin up, and it give me a strong back end reaction, allowing me to loop the lanes when needed.  I have a pin down,  when the first one is too jumpy.  What I have come to see, is a ball that has been over looked due to the fact they are a small company, which is a shame because they have some quality pieces out there.

If you have any questions concerning these balls, please contact me.

My buddy posted a video, its not all that great.  To me it looks like just another ball.  He was big into "Bill Hall this, Bill Hall that" for a bout 90 days and now he's back to brunswick, "chuck g this, Chuck g that."

However everything I have read says they're good balls.

It comes down to matching up layout and cover, which can be said about most balls out there.  I know when I got my first one, the original description said it was angular, but they have since revised it, saying that it allows players to play in right or towards the track area of the lane.  I can agree with that, until I drilled another pin up, I did see good backend, and excellent pin carry.  The whole premise behind the ball company isn't to make the biggest hooker on the market.  It's to make equipment that you can all night, and not have to make giant moves, which can get you into trouble fast.

Small company in small market flooded by bigger companies usually doesn't end well. When you pay someone to make your equipment and use their technology it is cheaper for the company but the product price for the consumer is usually higher compared to others. Same for proshop who wish to carry the product, which leads to minimum profits or high prices.

Try counting the number of brands poured by AMF/Global it is hard to keep up with these days.

A lot of global/amf guys should love seeing the Creature core modified being used.

It is a shame that some smaller companies won't see the light of day, due to the over flooded market.  Like you said Kid.  Global does spread itself pretty thin considering how many other companies stuff they pour.  I'm just saying if you get a chance to try a Blend10, give it a go.  I'm pretty picky when it comes to products, and for me to throw anything poured by global is a big thumbs up.  I usually avoid them like the plague, too many bad experiences with them in the past.

I'm going to be getting some clips of the ball in league to give some examples of how it rolls.  Going to try to film a bunch of consecutive shots, so you just don't see the strikes.  Because what can you learn from watching someone strike every shot on the THS.  IMO

My favorite product from San Antonio were made by Track and 2nd a smaller company Circle. Circle was great stuff at a really good price. Very few bad companies make it for very long.......same can be said for even the good ones.

Blend10 is doing a liquidation to make room for their newer releases. I love my stuff. Like any ball company your pro shop operator should be able to match you up to the balls being drilled. If he/she cant or doesnt bother you need to go elsewhere. I emailed the owner and he has given me these prices that doesnt inc shipping. email pete.oliva@blend10bowling.com. He said they have 15s & 16s left. At these prices its a no brainer. I will be buying several more.
OSW $50
NST $70
IN10SITY 100

What a great price for the OSW.  I liked mine but it overlapped with my Versa Max.

Ya Doug. These are great prices. I took my NST to 500 abralon and polished it with a brown  compound polish. It reads 5000 on a ball scanner. What a great look with that ball. Opened up the lane more. So I use a box one which is more mellow and the 500 one. Great compliments to each other. Im anxious to go to nationals with the mellower cover. I think its gonna be awesome.
