I suppose I have been boycotting Elite all along because there's no way I would buy their product at that price without more information, which for the longest time wasn't available (and to some extent still isn't). I think it's really bad business to introduce a new product at a premium price with no supporting information to substantiate it's worth, ESPECIALLY when there's no shortage of very well-known premium products from competitors.
In other words, why would anybody pay more for an Elite than for the tried-and-true, well-known top products from Storm, Brunswick, Ebonite, RotoGrip, Track, etc.?
I'm not saying that it's bad to introduce a new product, but Elite should've released those balls for a bargain price so that more bowlers would be inclined to try them out to get word of mouth generated. The buzz will sell more bowling balls. And they also should've released more data about the balls themselves.
Of course, now that it's now known that the balls are basically mid-priced balls for a premium price is even worse for Elite's reputation.

I saw an Elite ball on the ESPN Bowling Night Show, I'm not sure who was throwing it though.

Oh yeah, one more thing to add.  Is it just me, or did anyone else absolutely despise the way that guy talked in their little propganda video?  Boooooowler's paradise.  I felt like he was degrading us like he needs to speak slooooowly sooo us booooowlers can understaaaaaand.

And GOSTORM, I don't remember anyone using elite on that show.  TO used a punisher and one of the ebonite "time" balls, Mirra used a XXX factor, and I forget the rest.  But I never remember seeing anything from elite.

Hmm, interesting, I was keeping tabs on what they were using and I never even noticed it.  Probably thought it was just a house ball.

Well at least that's one good thing about Elite, as I don't like these giant logos that go halfway around the balls (Track) and/or are filled in (Brunswick) so that you can't black them out.

You think that they would put big logos on there balls so that they can get some advertising, that they need.

i have met gary heullsenburg or whatever his last name is  before many times he used to come into the proshop i go to which i pretty much live at when im not bowling working sleeping or at the casino   and that was when he was with ebonite and he recently called my proshop asking them to stock their balls     so the proshop owner isnt so great with the computer and asked me to check them out and 2 days later someone on the fourm got a ball   rolled like crap so he cut it open and it was a mushroom core with pk 18   so i told and he said no way would he stock the stuff   so  i want everyone to know that elite   is just   morich and lane   are honest about products and let you know up front and dont make up names for coverstocks like  super  control in a friction coverstock or some load a just just an example

Checked out bowlersparadise for their "largest selection" and found they carry more white dots and target zones than they do mid-high price balls. I like how they are also selling the Pro-am Inferno (PBA Fire) for $140. Total "perfromance balls per company"

AMF: 1
Brunswick: 6 (10 counting Power Grroves)
Columbia: 7 (8 including their one Scout)
Dynothane: 0
Ebonite: 19 (25 including Tornade line)
Hammer: 10 total including new spare ball
Lane #1: 0
Morich: 3
Roto Grip: 5 including spare tire
Storm: 10 (19 total including 2 team storm, 2 plastic, and 5 hit/big hit)
Track: 6

Elite had 4 plus 2 more spare balls. Knowing the fact that Elite doesnt show their cores which are old Monster cores I believe and give little to no info on the ball tells me they are trying to make a cheap buck on recycled cores/covers.

As far as pricing goes, I did a quick "experiment" with an Impulze Zone:

At our shop, an Impulze is $190 drilled buying from us (grips and slug extra $20 total) total with grips/slug/drilled $210. In this case the ball you get will be the correct pin/top/PSA to match your game best (if we dont have it in stock we order it from our dist. and request the pin/top).

If I buy it from BP, $120 for the ball, $17 for shipping $137 total. Take it to the shop to drill $50 to drill it plus the $20 for grips/slug my total there is $207. When ordering, unless they can match pin/top/PSA to your request, you may get a 1" pin with high top, or a 5" pin with good top but bad PSA mark.

In other words, pay the extra $3 and get a ball that will "work" better for your game. BOYCOTT!
