Title: Lane Master Bowling Balls!
Post by: JOE FALCO on March 21, 2004, 10:47:19 PM
The March issue of BOWLERS JOURNAL does a review on 3 balls from this company. They talk pretty highly of the PERFECTION PARTICLE. In fact their ratings in each category is FOUR STARS . the best you can achieve. Even LANE 1 balls haven't received this kind of rating .. has ANYONE any experience with them? I called the company and was advised that they were ABC approved but they were NOT PBA approved. What can you tell me?

I bought the ball called the answer it skates in box finish to first 30 feet of the lane on dryer condition. I will be selling this ball soon enough for 60.00 shipped if u wish to try it let me know 15 lb 3 1/2 pin 1 game no kidding. I do not believe scuffing would help alot and just think they are junk imo my pro shop was given 4balls includingthe perfection and all people plugged the balls to sell as used and remember they were giving these balls for free. So unless you have massive hand or real slow speed Joe skip these balls nobody had anything good to say about them.

I have a Massive Impact which is drilled really weak almost a pin axis drilling. I  should try another layout to give it a chance, but I haven't had any luck with it to this point. There are too many proven products around for me to try one again, but I may redrill this with a stronger layout on it.

LaneMaster/AZO bowling balls are not PBA approved because LaneMasters/AZO does not want to pay a sponsors fee to the PBA. If they want their balls to be PBA Approved, they would have to pay a $30,000 one time fee to register their company with PBA AND $5,000 each bowling ball that they want be be approved! I think that smaller companies makes better balls then the big ones out there. I recently got a AZO OPTIMUM and I shot a 804 series with it on the my second week of use. LaneMaster/AZO makes great balls.

JUst like i said imo they are junk maybe in my house they are and in yours you will shoot 800s all the time. I know 5 out of 5 in my house who agree with me on this and maybe ball you bought matches better for you then they did for our group. I still have an ultima rp by azo which is a good ball not great for dryer but i will take my ego or uranium saw on the same shot anytime instead of the azo ball.

I'm kind of saying the same thing. I throw my Blueberry all the time, or my Core Power Hrg. I've got a Thing Returns waiting in the wings. I'll probably never throw that Impact again.

I have one more thing to comment on here i am the lowest average person from my house to throw the ball at 194 i am kind of crappy at release sometimes i get 18 revs sometimes maybe 13. 2 out of the other 4 are ex pros one is wendy macpherson her coach is sam baca from lane masters and he wanted her to try something other than columbia300 so i think see says something when 5 out of 5 get rid of the balls. I will be out 110.00 after selling the ball but that is life and if i save 1 person the same money i feel good about it. So maybe in the right drill and right house these are the nuts but not in mine so good luck and if i am wrong i am wrong here good luck.

I have a big handed friend.  I had posted a question earlier asking what AZO ball was blue and green yellow.  Well know I know it was the AZO/Lanemaster
Answer after getting a chance to look in his bag!

In his big handed style this ball had so much sharp movement and reaction I couln't believe it.  A lot of hit too.  I was just watching that day and when I had left the area and been in the same league everyone had been using strong equipment.  Now it seemed that the equipment was for lighter oil.

It looked great but I'm not sure of the control or how my more normal hand would handle it!

I was out of bowling for 20 years and changed jobs and was asked to bowl in a league.  Bowled most of the year with an old plastic Ebonite Gyro and decided to try to get more competitive.  I do not like to follow the crowd so I researched a lot of balls and decided to try the Lane Masters Extreme Impact.
I have had it about a month and the results have been good.  My fist 300 game in practice and 13 in a row the week later.  The ball goes long and hits hard but I am still getting used to it.  I hope the results will continue to be good.

E .. Thanks for your comment! I measured the comments I received back in March and decided to stay clear of the balls. I've since moved on and picked up a TRACK CRASH .. Thanks again!

Lucky,

I'd love to see how much hand this guy has and what he did to get that ball to hook. When I first got mine, the cover was so highly polished (more than any other ball I have EVER seen) that I'd guess it was sanded to 3000 grit and polished to AT LEAST 4000 grit. It barely hooked, in box condition, more than my Blue Dot. I tried 3 surface changes so far. The first one that actually showed some signs of life (the 3rd surface change I made) was 1200 grit dull.

Through all this, even using Lanemasters' own "Super-cleaner" (their words), I never got the ball to feel that resin tackiness. I used Track's Clean and Dull and Neo-Tac's Hook-it, all to no avail. With any degree of polish, the ball has a greasy feel that polyester balls get when oil just lays on them. This situation makes me feel that the ball's pores are clogged. It may need to be sanded to 320 grit and then brought up to whatever is your preferred  grit, in order to un-clog the pores. Resins and particle pearls do have to absorb at least some oil to perform properly.

Hmmmm, I wonder if this is not a urethane pearl with particles in the coverstock, like some of Visionary's balls (Scorcher, Purple Ice), which were/are urethane-based particles ?????

All told, it seems exceedingly difficult to get this ball to perform; not a good sign.
