Manhattan Rubber
« on: January 08, 2015, 10:17:21 AM »
Balls from the 50's.
I would like to see how a 240 average bowling would do with a ball from the 50's like a Manhattan Rubber.  Even with the more lively pins and much easier lane conditions the scores would reduced by at least 15%.
I have a 16# undrilled if someone is interested.

How much are you selling it for, possibly a trade?

Fwiw, I believe Valenta won a regional on Cheetah last year using rubber. So it IS still useful, for the right bowler on the right condition.

I bowled with rubber & plastic and I remember events where scores were very high...so this is a fallacy

Yea, but you will probably bowling on a high friction surface (wood).

Ya so...synthetics can actually become a higher friction
Scores are scores and are generally relative...if I averaged 240 with rubber I'm still averaging 240 no?

Once shot over 1000 for a four game set using one, and that was after shooting a 190 the first game before switching to it, then shooting over 800 for the back three.

Give me one, and enough friction.  Everything has its place!

I would take $275 and include shipping. Or $250 cash to local buyer in Dallas area.

I remember I had a lady come into my shop almost 20 yrs ago with a wooden bowling ball wanting $4k for it...she said it was rare...I said well there's 2 in this shop with yours and mine...she put on eBay and abt a week later her husband traded it for a plastic ball...
So it's only worth what someone will pay...
