I am not a motiv staffer. I purchased the motiv tx1 2 days before leaving for the senior high roller at Samstown. I won the 50 and over tournament using this motiv ball. I also placed in two other senior tournaments and cashed in several sweepers. This ball played well on both fresh and broken down patterns. Fresh patterns required a little straighter play. I'm looking forward to more motiv eguipment.

Following are my specs:
ball speed..16 mph off hand
rev rate..275 to 350 rpm
pap ..5"over 1"up
style..stroker
age..67
For me the tx1 gave good length with a controlled arc off the breakpoint. If your specs are similar to mine you will like this ball. Its definitely a winner.

FYI If you have 275 - 350, you wouldn't be classified as a Stroker, but more of a tweener.

I am not too far from most of your specs. I have the TX-1's partner in crime, the SX-1. It took me 3 drillings to find the one right for my release and the oil patterns I face, but I really enjoy using mine.

I have found mine to be more like the review in Bowlers' Journal and not the urethane like ball mostly here have described. Mine rev's up harder than most other balls I have and has a very strong backend, almost flippy with the stronger drillings I tried. Now, with this 3rd drilling, it revs up more according to how I throw it and it's more controllable for me.

It and my B/G Centaur have become almost 2 essentials in my bag.

What layout do you have on your SX-1 now?

The SX-1 is the one Motiv balls that I have the most trouble with as it's low RG and rolls early but is not good on carry down.

I moved the pin from, 1, in the ring finger to, 2, in the middle finger (but kicked the GC too far out. OOPS) to, 3, now it's above the center of the bridge, with the CG just slightly kicked out, no weight hole. It's about a 4 1/2" - 5" pin to PAP for me (haven't measured my new PAP yet). It's still revs up strong, but the length is easier and the backend is more controllable.

Surface is 2000 grit Abralon + light dose of Snake Oil.

Mine handles the carrydown I see. At Least I haven't seen any when I was using it that it hasn't handled. Most times when I use it, my rev rate is around 280/300. I did practice in one house a few weeks ago, where I used a lower rev rate (240/250) to play the outside, as a swing shot didn't carry.

Oh, and I get enough backend with the current drilling to play as deep as 18 or so at the arrows (did that last week).

My specs are similar to yours as well. I've got the SX, TX and GT-1, all drilled 4X4, no XH, Box finish. The TX and the SX were both money on Cheetah. Smooth off the break, no over reaction. I also used the TX on Viper after the break down with good success. I used the TX in the PSBA tournament, which was a very Viper-like pattern,also good success. The SX seems a little longer and a little jumpier than the TX, and I'm not sure how it fits in my game yet, other than on Cheetah. I used the TX on my THS.
As for the GT-1, its significantly stronger and more angular than the SX or the TX. Haven't used it much, but may use it when my PBA summer league goes to longer patterns.
