...It wasn't exactly an impulse purchase, I have been looking for a stronger pearl. I'm looking forward to rolling this ball. I guess it's the inner ball hog in me!
Ball specs 15.03, 2.5 , 4.5-5 pin
For those who have one, what layout did you go with? I chose these ball specs with a double thumb layout in mind but I have a few days before the ball will arrive. Plenty of time to consider other options...

Had mine drilled for length with a strong backend.

I had mine laid out 3.75" stacked from my pap and it was super strong on the backend. It was also super over under and needed a crap ton of dry to make it really turn over. When it did watch out because that ball was going left in a hurry.
Compared to my Break pearl it made a much more aggressive turn in the backend in the form of a strong arc. It responded quicker to friction and continued powerfully through the pocket.
Too bad for me it was very condition specific and I didn't match up with the layout so I got rid of it. I find the Break solid and pearl to fit better for me.

I had the ball punched up this weekend. The layout is 52 x 4 x 30 with a small hole. More to come once I get a few more games on the ball...

Enjoy your Solaris slap! I love mine, it's the strongest pearl i've ever thrown. Great backend reaction, handles oil/carrydown very well.

does your ball have some purple in it or is that just the reflection of your flash on the ball?? slashrr69

I am going to pick up the Solid when I come out. Hearing lots of good stuff about the pearl so I hope it carries over.

whats this ball compare to? I mean, compared to say a hot sauce, and a one pearl, and a cell pearl?
-
For me the reaction shape compared to the black Break solid. I had my Solaris drilled strong and it gave me the same down lane motion and look.
The oil handling ability was comparable to my Pluto with a strong drill which is at least fresh mediums plus.
I'm looking forward to the solid version I really like the core and cover match up but didn't need the pearl version as I already have the Break.

Solaris has the exact same core as the Break Pearl, so maybe a similar reaction to that?

I'm pretty sure it has the same cover as the Break Pearl but a symmetric core.
-
symmetric core +1, same cover as the break pearl
love this friggen ball so much I got 2
one long pin, and 1 short pin
very strong pearl with excellent carry, and great reaction
love it

My Requiem arrived today (thanks tekneek!)
The ball specs are 15 lb 4 oz, 4 inch pin with 2.4 oz of top weight. My original plan to was to use the same double thumb layout that I have on my Solaris Pearl but I've changed my mind. I'm going to use one of my favorite layouts 45 X 4.5 X 30.
More to come...

I have double thumb on my long pin 2nd Solaris...fantastic piece once I hit the cover with a worn 4000 pad. Ball was over/under until the slight cover mod...now, holy $#!% it's money on a medium THS.
REALLY want to try the Requiem now!

Yep, the double thumb on the Solaris Pearl rolls great. That layout seems to work well for me, I have it on a Bite as well and it's also nuts!
I can't wait until league on Monday night to see what Requiem can do on some oil! I threw a couple games after I picked it up from the shop but that was only a tease...

It's not a double thumb layout unless the extra hole is roughly the same size as your thumb hole.
-
i went to the lanes today and took my solaris pearl and forgot how great and strong this ball is i havent used it in a few weeks. now once i find some oil ill try the solid its double thumbed.

Really...
Go read AND COMPREHEND this and get back to us. Apparently I missed the section that relates the size of the balance hole to a thumb hole.

*yawn* Okay you got me... I always drew the logical conclusion that if it was a double thumb layout that the extra hole would be roughly the same size as the legit thumbhole...
Whatever floats your boat...

It's cool man... It's stated in the pdf that the hole must be 1 1/8" or less.
