Title: Badger open no spoilers, new equipment sightings...
Post by: billdozer on June 10, 2015, 01:21:33 PM
Motiv Primal Rage Remix thrown by russell

Motiv continues to impress!

Optimus solid looks awfully dark. I expected more vivid colors...ibbet it doesn't sell because of that reason... The stock pic looks much brighter....probably one of the furthest from the stock I've seen.

The Primal Rage Remix thrown by Russell looked really good. I was also impressed with the roll I saw on the Mastermind thrown by Walter Ray.

I can't say the same for the Storm/Roto balls rolled on the pattern. The Optimus Solid thrown by  Barrett and Page never really transitioned well to the friction. Barrett's Hyper Cell looked to roll out more often than not.

I know it's more the bowler than the ball, but still, Storm didn't show well on the Badger last night.

Yep the storm crowd did not.  They seem to fair well during the tournament, but the TV pair.... not so much.

Storm has to know motiv is getting the spotlight, they either figure that out, or pass the torch.  Some probably motiv has surpassed storm already.  I feel they are neck and neck..

I suspect that the Optimus Solid colors were somewhat muted by the blue oil.

I don't think so. The color is pretty different from the stock pictures. Our shop got the Optimus and Sky Rocket yesterday. I'm trying to upload pictures now to show in this thread

Your pics look brighter than the TV show.  Walk-in E is right...the blue oil muted them.

I'm just saying its not typical of storm to go darker...it must be to make it a "stronger" cover...or something..

I'm really liking the color of it actually. I was afraid of how bright the yellow might be. The Sky Rocket looks really nice too with the black/ice teal combo

Guys sometimes get sucked in to using too much surface on Badger.  Not sure Storm really has a core shell matchup that excels for a lot of guys on the Badger.  I know my best Storm ball on that pattern is the Marvel Pearl, and it isn't as good as my Black Widow legend.  Conversely on the shorter and medium patterns balls like the IQ series are very good.

that makes sense bob. you want skid snap balls on long since theres such a short amount of friction i would look at the crux pearl or hyper cell skid in storms line to fit that bill

Not necessarily skid/flip but balls with stronger backend. I've seen Hyper Cell Skids with surface used on quite a few.long patterns

ya thats what i meant. ive been using a totally defiant at 4000 with the most success ive ever had on long patterns this summer. in the past i always used the strong early rolling symetrics and such because i thought i wanted to maximize traction on such long oil but i see now they just didnt work because they tried to hook in oil and just didnt have enough shape downlane to turn the corner

Optimus Solid is not very bright in person, (well the one I saw being used). The ball seemed to roll very well though.

I didn't pay attention to what the Motiv staff was using, but they all looked impressive.
