Am I reading this right? 1st place for the Masters is only $30,000? Second is $25,000? Please tell me I’m reading this incorrectly.

And there were guys crying all week because they want smaller fields. There was talk of "Average requirements" as high as 225+ from amatuers in order to bowl the event.

Total Prize Fund $315,000

I'm assuming Gold Coast gave away the lineage for the week, or maybe that's part of the added money.  But regardless how is it that some sponsor doesn't add even more money to a "major" event.  Or how does USBC not add extra money, again assuming none of the 90k extra came from them.

I'd be interested to know how the TV ratings were compared to previous shows.  I'm up super early in the morning and didn't watch because of the 9pm est start time unfortunately.

Pretty sad 30 years later the total pot is smaller.  That said Arizona bowlers did fairly well so shout out to the locals.  Explains why one my regular drillers was out last week.  He was busy cashing in what little there is.

No major should pay less than 50k for first. If you can win one of the handful of majors against the best in the sport, you should be able to sustain a decent living for a year off that amount in my opinion. But honestly, it should be more like:
1st - 100k
2nd - 80k
3rd - 60k
4th - 40k
5th - 25k
6th-10th - 10k

so on and so forth.

52nd at the PGA Players Championship also pays 30k  :D lol

God, even at the top level bowlers are such pussies. Some of these guys would cry if they were the only person at a tournament and the payout was 1 out of 1.

As long as PBA members sit by and let someone else control their sport, they deserve how little they get paid.

When they allowed the Microsoft and Nike idiots to take over their sport, they sealed their fate.

You know what is funny? I couldn't remember the PBA commissioners name, so I googled "PBA commissioner". Try it and see the result you get. I laughed out loud, yep, the Professional Bowlers Association has a real imagine problem when even google doesn't recognize it.

Nothing?? I got Phillipine Basketball Association - Willie Marcial. Who knew there was such a thing?

Some ex Microsoft and Nike executives "bought" the PBA(Bowling, not Basketball) in the early 90's I think. And then they installed that Ass Clown Tom Clark to run it. He is the bald headed goober with the shit eating grin on his face you see on all the telecasts .

Maybe thats part of the problem. More than one group might use PBA as their abbreviation. Try typing it oin PBA Bowling Commisioner, then see what pops right up

But seriously, don't you think an ex Microsoft executive would know how to get a google search to return Bowling to the top of the results when a user searches for PBA anything? Or maybe it's just another example of not giving a shit by the owners of the PBA.
