I just watched it and was kind of surprised to see them skip a few frames in the first match. There are only 2 matches over an hour of TV time and usually any match takes 15 - 20 minutes, even at a slow pace. Plus there weren't many spares thrown today.
I enjoyed the bowling, especially since I didn't know the outcome ahead of time, but am kind of disappointed they didn't even show 2 full matches. I think it was the same with the previous WSOB shows the past few weeks.
I guess that old platitude still holds true: "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with b*llsh*t." Pity, as their fan base seems to be dwindling.
In case anyone has any doubts, I did enjoy the bowling I did see. I'll probably record it and view it at my leisure until the bitter end.

The bowling itself was very good. I was there at the bowling stadium to watch the animal pattern shows and the bowling that went on was very good that day.
I can't speak too much about the show as I haven't watched any of them on Espn yet. But I enjoyed watching Ronnie Russell and DJ Archer bowl on the Chameleon pattern and Rash had a pretty good look to just got unlucky

Lucky you! watching them bowl. I'd have enjoyed that.

I thought it was good action today. Still fought dozing off to sleep during the broadcast.
What trips me out is people complaining about ESPN taking a commercial break early in the first match, meaning there's not continuous coverage of every shot. The old PBT on ABC Sports would cut for commercials -- thereby skipping frames -- both during live and pre-recorded telecasts. So what's the bitching and moaning?

Because it's not live and there's only 30 minutes of bowling in 60 minutes of air time. Tv shows in prime time are under a regulation to show something like 40 minutes of the show in 60 minutes of air time. Is it really too much to ask? It's not like bowling has tons of sponsors waiting to buy this air time. :D

The am vs pro segment, while a nice touch that shows that professional bowling gives back to the bowling community (and allows the PBA to showcase their bowling ball sponsors), kills the flow of the show. They should not be cutting frames from the first game to make room for this segment. Either extend the post game 1 interviews or add more in-depth analysis to keep the show focused on the tournament.
I like the pro vs am segment on its own. Perhaps they should mention them on the telecast (with the sponsoring bowling company) and just post them on the PBA website.

I thought this telecast was way better than the first 2. Hard not to root for Archer. Big day for him...
-
I loved seeing Ronnie bowl as good as he did. But it was really cool to see DJ Archer throwing it well. Great match.

While the bowlers on the show are outstanding, the format of the show is terrible. Only two matches for the entire show. The amateur part, while ok, is still not very rewarding for the contestant--he might win a bowling ball. Terrible. Then they even have to cut some of the live bowling so someone can talk more. Please revise.

In the AM vs PRO segment of yesterdays show Tom Hess gave the young man his ball (Guru) and his towel.

Would like to congratulate my buddy DJ on winning his first national title. Very well deserved sir.

I watched after not watching the first two shows. I hope the PBA doesn't wonder why people aren't watching. From the pro vs. am thing to Randy Pedersen not being able to describe track flare for the average viewer the whole thing is an embarrassment to professional bowling.
And this has nothing to do with the bowlers or the quality of the bowling. They are just forced to be part of the circus.

The shows on ABC used to go to commercial breaks but would normally 'pause' the game unless they were strapped on time and then they would allow the bowlers to bowl through the telecast. Back when bowling was competing with college basketball on ABC, they let the college games continue even though they would cut into the telecast.

Which makes me curious as to why I get so much hate and flak when I post something negative about the shows . . I actually enjoyed the bowling this week. Bowled against DJ at a tournament the first weekend of October, just a few weeks after his mother passed. Didn't get a chance to talk to him, but he seemed to be a very easy going guy, doesn't walk around like Billy Badass, was just there to bowl like everybody else. Happy to see him get the win.

Did anyone notice that the opening "credits" took 17 minutes. I lost interest long about there
-
That's par for the pba lately. Other than all the wasted time the bowling was enjoyable to watch
-
From the opening segment,to the pro-am segment, this telecast part sucked the big one.The actuall bowling was pretty decent, although I had to watch it on youtube.Get rid of the non essential stuff, and you have no missing frames.
I do belive that the PBA telecasts are at where Nascar and WWE telecast have sunken to, 30 minutes of crap with 5 minutes of actuall product. I know my time exaggerations are off,but you get the picture.

This is why I record the show and watch it at my leisure, fastforwarding through almost everything but the bowling itself. This way I enjoy the bowling and nothing interferes with it. Just watched the Scorpion show and the bowling was excellent & enjoyable.

The fact that the PBA is putting the shows on YouTube themselves says something...
-
I never watch these live. I record them so I can FF through the fluff.
Don't care about the pro vs. am segment. Don't care about the silly interviews by the babe. I am surprised they don't show some frames of the initial match when they can have time for all the superfluous crap.
This week's match between Larsen and Haugen was interesting as it came down to the last frame on a difficult shot and both guys threw it through the nose. I can relate.

It was a good show in my opinion
