Post by: DON DRAPER on August 26, 2006, 03:34:35 PM
i was looking at the results from qualifying at the pba midwest regional in peru, illinois. eugene mccune led qualifying with a score of 2119----that's an average of 264+ for eight games ! i realize this tournament is being contested on pba regional/senior pattern #2( 36' short oil pattern ) which plays right into mccunes strength of hard and straight from the ditch but wow !

That is nuts next guy Jeff Smith was 154 pins back.  I see Jeff Carter and Jeff Richgels made it.  Along with the guys you would figure.

Weber beats Richgels in the final.  All Storm final.

BR's Jeff Carter lost to Jason Couch....then Couch lost to Weber.  Richgels must have matched up very well today.  Rolled 257 and 300 against Mike Kruse and 248 against Steve Taylor.

Pretty high scoring for the most part.

I have beaten Gene on #2 in the finals match of a sweeper.  I had to shoot 278 to do it.  That and Cheetah are like THS to him.

Eugene was +508 for 8 on the same pattern at the Member/Non-Member doubles tournament at Kingpin this year also.

I remember seeing that...had to take a second look!  I think Gene is going to be pretty tough this year.  I've been able to watch him all summer (same sweeper kmanestor22 was talking about) and he is looking very solid.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him on TV a few times and maybe even bring home another title.

I bowled against Eugene when he first came into adult leagues back in 83. He was bowling with his dad and he had a game then. The only thing that has kept Eugene from winning a bunch of titles and being up there with the best, is

(EUGENE)......

You mean it's not the lanes bouncing, or they were bowling on a different end of the house, or they used different pins.....all things heard from his mouth when he doesn't bowl well.

He does throw a fireball...especially when he plays straight and fires it from outside. His inside cranker ball is pretty awesome when he's on. He's a hothead though.
