Missed Marketing Opportunities

The scene, the PBA Geico Open, West Babylon, NY:

Randy Pedersen: "Tommy Delutz, Jr. needs a strike on this ball to defeat Jeff Lizzi, move on to the semi-finals, and keep his Tournament of Champions hopes alive.

He starts his approach, he sends the ball right, looks good... uh, oh, hit a slick spot at the breakpoint and didn't make it back, he leaves the 2-4-5!

Jeff Lizzi is your winner!"

TD finishes the frame, looks very dejected.  Randy calls him over to the sidelines.

Randy: "Tommy, you only needed the first strike to advance, but ya choked, so no Tournament of Champions this year for you.  But I do have some good news."

TD: "What's that, Randy?"

Randy: "I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance to Geico."

I think the sponsors would have loved that spot, maybe even made it part of their national advertising campaign.

Whaddya think?

Always wanted to try out a new sight on my rifle.  Wouldn't be as satisfying as strangling him, but a message must be sent.  "I got some good news.  I just shot the announcer for one of those annoying Geico commercials."

How about after Randy tells TD the good news, Tommy simply says "Don't worry about me, I had Subway last night!"

Miller High Life didn't even think of this one last year.  This was brought up on pba.com forums after Couch won his 3rd straight TOC last year:

Video of Duke in tears after his unforgettable sudden death win last year with A voice-over: "This man didn't have an ice-cold Miller waiting for him."

Cut to Couch and his "Miller Time" TOC victory swig.

Would have been a hilarious commercial during the PBA telecasts.
