Does the PBA offer group insurance to their members?

Just curious as Sean Rash looks to be missing a tooth on the bottom in front.

Good question. I doubt it from what I understand. I’m still struggling to see what the point is for anyone to want to be a professional bowler. How are these guys eating? (Hold for the top guys)

Agreed on why be full time on the PBA.  Even if I had the skills, I would not take the pay cut.

The talent on tour right now in my option is awesome. Lot of great young talent and not so young talent out there from top to bottom.

When you look at the money list once you get outside of the top 10 the money starts to look a bit scarce when factoring all of your expenses not including medical. If you are having to find you own health insurance that could easily be $1000 or more a month with a garbage deductible.

Like most have said that is a lot to risk on trying to earn a living bowling. Especially if you factor in injuries and having to miss for any period of time. Hats off to them for wanting to try it.

From some of the things people have said on here about him, it's a wonder he isn't missing more teeth than that..........

Rash has been missing that tooth for better half of 5+ years, possibly 10.  As far as insurance goes, i cant speak for today's PBA, but years ago Walter Ray Williams Jr. was petitioning to try and start some sort of insurance for the full time players.  No one in the paddock would jump on board with him and it sorta went away.  MOST of full timers back then fell into a 3 categories:  1. wife held a normal job with insurance and was the actual main support  2.  They own proshops or managed bowling centers to actually support themselves  3.  lived by the seat of their pants, lol.  Look at the number 2 bowler of all time.  Pete Weber, my idol growing up, loved him.  He lives in a house smaller than 2000 square foot with maybe 1/4 acre of property.  The kids today have more avenues to make money and most make more money bowling the non-tour tournaments.  Professional bowling has been dead for decades, we as fans just havent seen that.  Getting your card is sadly a joke today.  The PBA CATERS to Belmo.  Ever wonder why events are combined around the same time, so he can go back home and stay home for longer periods of time.  I love this sport, but its just sad where it is now.

Every point made in this thread us absolutely correct.  It has also been true for 50 years.  One of my best friends had 3 national titles and 7 seconds during the 70s.  He is now 70 years old and still drilling balls for a living.
