Title: New U.S.B.C. Regs apply to P.B.A. also?

Anybody know if the P.B.A. will also be adopting the new regs?

I’d be surprised if they don’t follow the new USBC specifications. The organizations are joined at the hip in many regards, and participating in PBA events requires being a USBC member in “Good standing”, so why not?

Besides, for all practical purposes, we’re simply looking at the elimination of weight holes. In almost all cases, you can keep the drill patterns you love and cherish. I don’t understand why so many people are losing their minds over it.

Didn't I see that Norm Duke swears by balance holes?  Of course if there was ever a bowler that could adjust lol.

 You or me either.

Was just curious if they would adopt these rules as well. Probably won’t effect them near as much as it will amateur level bowlers, but if the amateurs tune in and see the pros throwing balls and drilling’s they can’t use themselves, I think that would only make things worse.

I agree that allowing PBA players to still use balance holes would cause more confusion and noise than it’s worth. Still, I too am curious about the PBA’s official position.

I almost always practice throw a newly drilled ball without a balance hole before having my pro shop guy put one in. I can rarely detect much difference between before and after. For the vast majority of bowlers, I don’t see the rationale for the change.

For me, the irony is that almost all my PBA Regional cashes have come from using balls with no balance holes and lower flare drillings. I’m a medium rev guy, and control is much more important than maximizing hook potential with a P4 hole.

I would think they would have to, otherwise they jeopardize losing the USBC Masters, as that is a USBC event, and not just a PBA event.

The bigger question here is if the PWBA will be adopting these regs, as they are all but funded entirely by the USBC, plus would lose the Queens tournament if they didn't.

What will cause bigger heartburn for most PBA bowlers is if the overseas events (read: Weber Cup, Japan Cup, etc.) will be adopting these regs. WTBA doesn't have to follow the USBC regs, nor should they, let alone any other governing body in any other country.

Those following USBC regs will definitely be in compliance with those other governing bodies, but how much complaining will they do of those that are in compliance with, say, WTBA and still allow these weights and balance holes that have been stripped from those following USBC regs?

I spoke to Connor Pickford this past Thursday and he said they had to follow the same guidelines...
