Heard a rumor today...
« on: August 10, 2006, 12:30:09 PM »
From a Columbia rep, he heard they were dropping the 1st from 40K to 25K this season. Anyone else here anything?

I'd be surprised to hear that, but I suppose anything is possible.

So they're dropping the amount that 1st place gets.  Are they taking that money and distributing it elsewhere in the standings though?

Maybe it's just for the old-style tournaments.  They've changed the format for a few of the tournaments to the old qualifying plus round-robin 24-game match play with stepladder finals.  They did that last year for the Dick Weber Classic and the payout was $30K for first instead of $40K.  Could be that they need to spread the prize fund around more for those tournaments.
