PBA Donates Equipment and Apparel to U.S. Army
Seattle, WA - March 1, 2004

The Professional Bowlers Association has donated approximately $100,000 worth of bowling equipment and apparel to the United States Army. The product was a surplus of discontinued merchandise.

Retro shirts, jackets, bowling bags and over 10,000 pairs of bowling shoes will be used to enhance participation in the Army’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation bowling program, improve the quality of the Army’s current inventory and support the soldier intramural bowling program and the 2004 All Army Bowling Team.

“The U.S. Army has long supported the sport of bowling, on both the competitive and recreational sides,” said PBA Commissioner Fred Schreyer. “We can’t think of a better way to put our products to good use.”

The U.S. Army features 103 bowling centers where over 7.9 million lines are bowled yearly. “The generous donation from the PBA will provide an unexpected boost to the Army’s bowling program,” says Wanda Arthur, Army Bowling Program Manager. “Our Soldiers and family members are in for a real treat!”
