held June 4th - 5th, shown on Xtraframe
Tommy Jones got a clutch double in the 10th frame of position round in match play to make the 4th spot in the stepladder
went around Tacket and Schaefer who had horrible games
Scorpion pattern @ 47' looked brutal
used a Hammer Black urethane for the stepladder suggested to him by his room-mate this weekend - DJ Archer
Match One – Jones def. Pickford, 212-163.
Semifinal Match – Jones def. Lavoie, 247-213.
Championship – Jones def. Troup, 237-228.
last match came down to carry and TJ needed the 1st one in the 10th frame to get the win
Impressive performance for title #17

The final match between Kyle Troup & Tommy Jones was one of the best I have seen in a long time.
They matched each other shot for shot all the way to the 10th frame. Tommy needed to strike on his first ball in the 10th to win.
Considering how brutal the pattern was, throwing a strike was no way a given. Tommy delivered and was rewarded with his 17th title. Congrats to Tommy, but also to Kyle who bowled a
game that was a nail biter all the way to the finish.
Man was that pattern a nightmare. This event showed you why these gentlemen are at the level there at.

Anyone know the layout on the Black Hammer that TJ used in the title match?
-
I do not know, but I have one.
Layout does vey little to affect motion, surface is the most influential item that affects motion.
IMO, TJ is one of those guys who can get urethane to hit properly
That ball is fairly weak on any volume from what I have seen. It's very predictable and arcing
-
Very interesting to see urethane used on a long pattern no matter how demanding.
-
Any idea if this is on Youtube (quick search only shows last year)? I would love to see this match. Rare now that you see urethane thrown on a long pattern.
I know it's on XtraFrame but I gave up my subscription last year because the quality of the feeds were so bad.
-
With his rev rate and some surface he shouldn't have any issues playing outside on that pattern.
Haven't lefties shown this to work on more then one occasion?
-
he didn't really play out
i would say 10ish to start and into 14-15 by the title match
it looked like the urethane carried down just enough to hurt the reaction of the others
-
Very tough to use surface to try to play out on a long pattern. You lose your hold area faster than you create swing area no matter your rev rate
