PBA Pattern
« on: January 10, 2004, 09:50:44 PM »
Is it just me or does the pattern today (I think it's A) look like a house shot??   Yes, I'm a house hack, but still, we've seen 2 totally different lines thrown so far, and it just looks like funnel........yes?

I would agree, that it is a harder house shot.  However, why would anyone watch the pros if the high game is only going to be a low duce?

Bob, I understand your post and that's why I posted yesterday and your last comment may have something..........the recovery some of these guys had when they missed was just NOT adding up to a pro pattern...especially Lonnie.......

The outside got drier and gave Lonnie more apparent room outside, because they all practiced before hand, Duke and WRW played only the outside. But for Lonnie's slower speed, it could easily overreact, which is why I think he went with the Ebonite ball (Was that an older Stinger; it looked 99% black and Ebonite doesn't have many of those.)

I think the reason for the 10th frame washout (as I mentioned in another thread) was he was using a milder solid and was tryign to play the oil line so the ball wouldn't over-react. Th eRaging Inferno got too strong as the line dried up.

If anyone noticed, WRW started leaving 10 pins, which were almost his downfall when he started playing the 5 board with a slight swing shot, instead of sticking to his hard-up-the-7-board shot. He went back to that at the end in 6th or 8th frame and started striking again.

WRW started leaving 10 pins because he started coming around the ball, rather than lifting straight through the ball.  If you watched the ball as it exited the pin deck, he had too much deflection on all those 10 pin leaves.

When he returned to doing what he had been when he was striking, staying behind the ball all the way, he started striking again.  It looked fairly obvious to me.
