For two days I have been trying to watch on Xtra Frame the PBA50 event at Spanish Springs in the Villages, FL. The picture quality is horrible/blurry. I sent two e-mails to Xtra Frame and all you get in response is a pre-recorded statement saying they are aware of the problem and are working on it. For two days they have apparently been working with no positive result. Wonderful!! If this keeps up and I miss the step ladder finals, Xtra Frame will have one less customer. I did not pay for the crap their putting out.

Last I heard, the PBA uses the Internet connection of the host center. That is a bunch of sustained upload bandwidth for at best a business connection. That is why quality is always hit and miss. They either need to charge less or partner with a company to get more reliable bandwidth.
I always think it funny when they show someone streaming XtraFrame on a big TV as the picture is nowhere near high def even on the best of days.

Typical of Microsoft Executives(current and ex). You will take what we give you and like it. :o ;D
The PBA needs new ownership in the worst way.

Amen Milo, Amen.

Well after two days of blurry transmission, it has now been determined that today (day 3) the match play round scheduled for 8:45 a.m. LIVE, will be shown in delayed mode HD at 4:00 p.m. And the stepladder finals scheduled for 7:00 p.m. LIVE, will be shown in delayed mode HD at 11:00 p.m.
I guess the PBA/XtraFrame thinks most of us don't have anything to do tomorrow, that we can stay up into the wee hours to watch the finals.
What I don't understand is PBA/Xtra Frame has been broadcasting at the Villages for a number of years without a problem. So what happened this year. Did Spanish Springs change their Internet vendor? If so, and the PBA/XtraFrame was notified, did they run a test prior to the tournament?
If PBA/XtraFrame was unaware until they arrived and setup at the Springs, then they were blindsided and should find a different venue for the 2nd tournament on the PBA50 tour next year. The ball got dropped big time and I don't believe the PBA/XtraFrame is going to offer pro-rated refunds to it's customer's for failure to deliver a quality broadcast LIVE!!! Sorry for the rant, but when I don't get what I paid for.......
-
My gripe about Xtra Frame is that the quality is so erratic. If you are going to ask people to pay for something, it needs to be at a reliable consistent level of quality.
If it's going to be no better than an iPhone shooting video, then OwnIt. But don't do one event with professional lights, sound and commentary and then have a whole other set of standards for another event.

I gave up once they had to cancel broadcasting the XTRAFRAME OPEN!

I'm pretty sure the word "sucks" is allowed 8)

You never know with the P.C. puss*es

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the Xtra Frame weekend promo to be able to see PWBA and Proprietors Cup, but, if not if the streaming is inconsistent (per Bull_winkle).
Anyone watched recently as there have been no comments since late April?

Cancelled mine last month after 5 yrs .Save your money, it's a inferior product with lots of issues

luv2C,
Thanks for the reply - even though it was only $ 3.99 for the weekend, if there were issues, I still would have been upset.
In your opinion, what will it take to improve, and make the product of value? It was mentioned upthread that the feed is dependent on the host center's vendor - is it as simple as ensuring a reliable internet feed in all centers - either as a requirement for hosting or through a PBA-negotiated arrangement?
-
Between the feed being poor most of the time and bad camera angles. They also try to fit to much on the view screen .6-8 bowlers with their scores can get a tad much on one view screen .I think it would be better if they just flash the scores every few frames.
-
It is not perfect but, I do like it.

Xtra Frame should be free. The PBA/PWBA needs viewers more than the little revenue it gets from subscriptions. Besides, ad revenue could be used to make up the subscription fees and it might make them even more money.

Was watching some of the PWBA Lincoln Open this past weekend. XtraFrame was panning across 8 or more lanes and it made all the women look much heavier than they actually are. It wasn't the 10 lb. effect....... much much greater. If I was any of these ladies I would have been very upset. Also you could not clearly see the scores on the monitors (faint & blurry).
For the Proprietor's Cup I could not find the score updates anywhere on either the PBA website or XtraFrame. Had to wait for the announcers to mention it. Maybe it was there, but I could not find them.
Another fine example of the inferior product XtraFrame is putting out. If they can't get their act together and soon (Note: it was pretty good last season, don't know what happened?), I will not be renewing.. I'll just wait till it's on You Tube and watch it then.

Here I am tonight at 7:45 p.m. EST trying to watch the PBA50 Northern California Classic on XtraFrame and it keeps locking up.
I have to go back and start the "live" transmission again, and thenafter a minute or less it locks up again.
What is wrong this season with XtraFrame???

Save your money and the frustration

It is an inferior product and if it weren't that I want to support a women's tour I'd cancel. PBA and XtraFrame if you are reading this you need to do something to improve the reliability of your product.
