Plastic Ball Championship - Winner Prediction
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:57:38 PM »
Alright, so who's going to win this week?  I'll tally up the votes and keep the tabs as the week goes on.  My pick:  Patrick Allen.

Have fun!

EDIT
The only name that matters:
JEFF CARTER

CONGRATS TO ONE OF BALLREVIEWS' OWN!!!

JessN,

I did not think anyone else would throw his name out there.  I totally agree with you on this pick.  That is if he can make it out of the Qualfier.  He is really good with plastic.

It's either going to be someone super-accurate who can throw a heavy forward roller, or it's going to be someone like Pratt or Robert Smith who can rev it to Venus.

The true sleeper is Brian Voss. I have seen him use plastic at his clinics and they set up nicely for him. Looks like he is stroking a weak resin up the boards. Plus he his trying to get his exemption back and I think he knows this is his best chance. Could just be wishful thinking though.

Is Voss bowling this tourney as exempt or from the TQR?

Power and rev-rate are the new-school game. Using plastic is gonna be conducive to the old school bowlers who grew up with similar stuff. I woulda included Duke but heard he wasn't bowling. It's gonna be that style bowler who makes the show, guys with alot of touch and feel, not the power players. The carry is gonna be predicated on location in the pocket not who can open up the lanes or have the biggest pocket area.

Voss has to come out of the TQR I believe which obviously makes it harder but if you watch the guys every week from 5-25 his name has been showing up more and more frequently. He has one of the most fundamentaly sound games ever on tour so....

I'm gonna go with some longshots, but guys who like to play off the corner with speed. I think speed + angle will overpower the pins and result in better carry.

1. Doug Kent

2. Eugune McCune

OK, so I hear that Kent is not bowling this week, so I'm going with McCune.

dont think belmonte is bowling in this but if he was or his, he will win..i saw him throwing a storm plastic ball couple of tournys ago against wrw and beat him in match play with a 256...it was amazing watching his ball roll down the lane...but i will stick with joe c since belmonte isnt bowling..

As of yesterday, Belmonte was on the TQR list.

That's awesome, Voss has been doing really well on the big boys tour lately.  I love his style a LOT...I've been trying to emulate him but it never works

I still think PA is going to win, but Voss has my <3 vote haha

I'll tally up names and such once I get home from work.  Fun times!

I like Jason Couch from the left side........

Norm Duke from the right side along with, Nolen (he's gonna be big), Malott and Maximum Bob.....depending on the pattern, of course!

But, Duke should be up there because of his accuracy and versatility, even if he doesn't win.
