Title: Player Of The Year
Post by: tonybowls on February 01, 2004, 07:27:26 AM
Player of the year should come down to Kovuniemi or Williams Jr. Right now I give Mika the edge but it's not over yet. Mika proves once again that straighter is greater. It's scary how his ball just blows the pins off the deck week after week. Amazing.

mika is the model of consistency. period. WRW could grab PBA honors, but i think it will take at least 2 more TV finals AND another title to get it.

Go Major Mika!!!

I was going to post something like this tonight, but you beat me to it! Haha. Anyways, I'd say Mika is in the lead for POTY, with Walter right behind him a bit. Then PDW and Healey behind him some, and Barnes is a distant behind them two.

Well, let's not forget that Healey and Walter are dead even so far.  Two titles, a major for each.  I think they were equally impressive in the majors, however Walter did dodge a HUGE bullet when Lonnie all but gave him his first title of the year.  But of course Mika has to be the frontrunner, no question.  Two titles, a 300 on tv (without a doubt the most impressive display by any bowler on tv since Bob Learn's record setting day), and 3 (or is it 4?) other appearances, two of which were 2nds.  His lowest finish (no pun intended) so far this year has been the 3rd at the Masters, he bowled very well there too.  But does anyone note how interesting it is that there are a couple bowlers with two titles, and now with a couple majors out of the way, that Brad Angelo is still second in points?  He's got a very good outside chance at it.  All he needs is a couple titles and a good showing at the World Championship.  And to hope that Mika breaks a limb . . or two.

No doubt, right now, it's Mika.  WRW has to really 'show-up' here in the second half.

Angelo has a lot of points because of how he's doing each week, which is impressive as all He11, however,...he'll have to win a couple first to be considered.

Healy was very impressive early and could make a run as well in the 2nd half, but again.......Major Mika is just rippin' it up!

2 titles, a 300 on TV, and the current points leader.  Mika has to be considered the front-runner for POY as of now, but there are still two majors to go.

Winning the World Championship would probably be enough to put any of the current front-runners over the top, unless the WC is won by either Healey or WRW.  3 titles and 2 majors in a single season is an awesome accomplishment.
