Randy Makes Show--Brian Voss Does Telecast
« on: December 13, 2003, 05:13:32 AM »
Randy Pederson makes the show and Brian Voss does the telecast.  Dang it ESPN you are making a mistake by NOT using Baldo.  Better yet let Voss and Ballard do it and can Dave Ryan.

This is the kind of bullsquat I had to deal with this Summer in a supposedly ABC sanctioned "Sport Shot" league: dry, flat oil with a 1 - 10 out of bounds. I wound up using a hghly polished urethane inside the 4th arrow. If I had more ball speed, .... whine, compalian , moan etc ..

This pattern is sad and pathetic in a league; it is stupid in a PBA TV show.  "Stupid" as demonstrated by so many Brooklyn strikes by professional experts. "Hard" is one thing;  "stupid" is another.

Many comments in advance of the announcing.

I thought it was very good and enjoyed listening to Voss.

Hated the camera angles.  30' over the lanes, or 50' behind the approach.  Looked like they got better as the telecast progressed or I got used to them.

Glad to see Healy move as far as he could, then finally switch to a less agressive ball.  That long, light pattern doesn't need a lump of coal burning up the midlane.  Rnady looks like he made a lot of release changes, but that dull Fear Factor was too much ball after the first match.

Never seen Barnes look that lost.  At least he tried everything.  Inferno (2 of them?), Eliminator, and a Bruiser.  Moved all over the lane trying to find something.  Bad as he threw the ball, he still had a chance.  Kind of ironic that he left a swish 7 on one of his better balls.

I was not impressed with Voss...maybe it was one of the very first comments when he was talking about how the lanes transpired.  Seemed almost like the best commentary came from Randy when they left the mic open.

IMO, it would have been much better with Baldo on there...given that it is not a regular occurence, I do not see where using Voss potentially adds or detracts to the demographics, so they should not have catered to the thought that some women find Voss attractive.

LL, For some reason I alway like Voss play by play but they need to throw Del Ballard in the mix. To add the Tech of it.

Baldo is just better cuz he is practiced at it.  Does Strike Pass pretty much all the time when he is not involved in match play.  Right now that is quite a bit.    C'mon.

Geez Joe Ciccone was better with Baldo in the Round of 8 than Voss.
