290, 248, 246, 300, 289, 253, 257  - 7 games for Rhino - 269.00 Ave. 1883 Total Pinfall.
He's puttin a hurtin on 'em..

I'd like to see PJ Haggerty do well too.  He was probably the best youth bowler in the country as of recent times, had a ton of success in college too and is now trying to make on the PBA tour.  He's currently 5th with a 236.29 Ave.

226, 256, 234, 213, 204, 278 , 243 - 1654  Total

Mike --

So far, I'm the only one (other than you, as a matter of fact) who mentioned Rhino in the same sentence as THB...AND THAT WAS TO SAY EXACTLY WHAT YOU JUST SAID!

I don't think any of us would be surprised if he made a show and won. I mean, this year for him has been crazy good.

How does Rhino bowl?  Is he a cranker like Smith or a stroker like WRW?  Describe his form since I have yet to see these mythical animal.

Side bar: It WRW really a stroker based on his rev rate? He may not swing the ball much, but I wouldn't call him a stroker.

WRW doesn't have the snappy hand movements that most crankers have; really, his hand doesn't move much at all through the release.  I'd call him a stroker.  He throws harder than most strokers, though.

The term cranker was supposed to be for a higher rev player that achieved his revs though "hackish" or bad mechanical technique.  There's no way you should be able to call the guy in your league with the cup wrist, bent elbow, and chicken wing release with 500 rpms on it a cranker, then turn around on Sunday and call Chris Barnes a "cranker" when he's hooking the ball.  The motion of the swing and release is not the same.

These days the terms used should be low, medium, and high rev player.  Rhino is on the medium-high side revrate wise, with a really great armswing and timing.  He can vary his ball speed very well with the tempo of his feet and swing, something us mere mortals cannot change in an instant and average 260 on a flatter pattern.

Give these guys credit because of their physical poweress and their ability to see the lanes and read transitions in a way that we cannot, not because they can exploit an area of the lanes to average an insane number.  That's the real distinguishing quality between pro and amatuer.

Rhino is.....That Good.

Rhino is 2nd after the first block of qualifying in the round of 64.

Side note:  I would call WRW a go-getter. He has characteristics of both a cranker with the way he attacks the ball with an aggressive release and speedy downswing, and a stroker with his motion being so consistent and pretty much rhythmic smooth.  I can't think of any other term to describe the way he throws, a tweener would not be good to call him either.  So my name for the way he bowls is a go getter.

Go about half way through the movie (after Daniel Falconi of Mexico), and you will see how Rhino bowls...at least in this year's Pan American finals.

Still way up there in the round of 64. I know I'm definitely pulling for him to break through to the show this week (prime-time!).

No, I know it's not a very good video...that's why I mentioned "at least at the Pan American" games...

I'm pretty sure he needed extra speed or something at that tournament (which he won by the way). Must've been a shorter pattern...he's definitely smoother and more polished looking at most events.

Watching that video, I assume he was bowling on 2 lane conditions.  1 lane appeared to be on a shorter pattern, the other a long one.

Yea if you watched Daniel bowling, by the way he is an international superstar for those who don't know him. He was playing in on the left lane, kind of a fall back shot. On the right lane he was playing up the lane, I believe it was the shorter pattern

Nice scoring when he throws, LOL.  It's like watching paint dry when he's on the approach, ala Diandra Asbaty.  Throw the darn thing already.
