Title: Ryan Ciminelli to Motiv
Post by: CoorZero on June 02, 2017, 01:03:37 PM
Just announced via Facebook Live. Not huge news, but interesting. I didn't see him moving from DV8.

Why not?

After all, he's in it for the money. If his contract was up, and their offer was better.............

To rephrase that, since my remark was similar, I'm surprised DV8/Brunswick didn't make him an offer that he couldn't refuse. Their pro staff isn't exactly in the greatest shape and Ryan is/was one of the more recognizable guys on the top.

Who knows, it could have been other factors than money on Ciminelli's end, but this is a weird non-move by the company.

I'd agree Motiv offered a better contract similarly to why Tom Daugherty left Storm for EBI. With all the major ball manufacturer's developing terrific equipment combined with the amount of skill touring players like Ciminelli have, it really makes no difference what company they are on staff with, they can win with anything. It's just a matter of how much $$ each company is willing to sign them to or perhaps offer a few added perks to sweeten the deal? i.e not do as many clinics or travel promotion

Brunswick no longer has the bowling and boats to subsidize the bowling balls so there's no chance an all or nothing guy like Ciminelli was getting a big offer.

We wish Ryan well in his new endeavor.

I was about to say that this Brunswick is not the Brunswick we used to know. For all we know this new Brunswick might not want any staffers except Parker and JP and given today's environment, I fear for their contract.

I think Parker is, or was, their East Coast salesman, so he's actually hitting the streets when he's not bowling.

It's official on the Motiv site:
http://www.motivbowling.com/motivnation/our-athletes/pba-tour/

I have to say, that's a pretty good staff that they've put together in the past few years.

I actually agree, I think the Ghost and Revolt series will roll well for him

The guy won 5 tournaments in about a year's time. The only thing gonna suit him better is more guaranteed cash.

The PBA tour is almost non-existent. Why over spend on a staff of players that a small fraction of bowlers would see?

If it was still in the 1990s I could see it still being a worth while expense.

   THIS

Yea, some of us hard heads still try to keep up with it, but the general public? Nah.

Last tournament I watched had maybe 50-75 people milling around in the place, and that included the staff.

American bowlers are better known overseas than they are here anymore. Over there, bowling still seems to be considered a big deal, and bowlers revered as athletes, not looked at like oddities.

I have not watched the Main Event..but he almost not cashed.  Parker 1 cash on the regular tour in 7 months.

Tough going for lefties on the regular tour this year.

Who knows the reason why.

Looks like Ryan is taking to the new Motiv balls pretty well in Arkansas today.

Lead the first squad by almost 200 pins over 8 games on Cheetah. Looks pretty good

Maybe he's just pumped to throw something different. But boy, those balls look good in his hands.

Someone made a statement that it didn't matter what company a pro was with they can win, well that is not exactly true. I remember Patrick Allen change companies and went with Track and he just could not get their balls to work for him and Patrick is and was very good.

I just bowled with Patrick Allen yesterday in a local Pro-Am.  Super nice guy and still a great bowler.  He was throwing a Storm Code Black.  He said he is going to try and bowl some regional tournaments soon and is currently running a pro shop in Northern New Jersey.

From "Made in Mexico" to "Made in USA". Ryan is better off right there.
