Shark Pattern Last Sunday
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:34:27 AM »
I was wondering if they unofficially modified the shark pattern for TV on Sunday.  Did they put more oil between the 5 and 10?  Anyone have an opinion

I think while Barnes had a good look, trying to bank off of that spot wouldn'thave worked for TJ. If you watched, Barnes pulled a few shots, especially the first back from commercial in the match against Mika, and it held and slid right into the pocket, high flush, but in the pockets. TJ would have had to cross that puddle to play where Barnes was playing and I don't think he could have brought it back through that. And playing straight isn't TJ's A game, so I doubt he would have tried to match Barnes line outside. I thought TJ should have stayed inside, maybe moved even further left around where Mika was playing. TJ doesn't loft it as much as Mika and has a slightly slower ball speed (I think from looking at it with my untrained eye) or at least the ability to slow if down more then Mika (remember the TOC the other year). I think he would have carried better then Mika and could have been a little more competitive. Unfortunately, im not a huge Barnes fan, but I don't think anyone could have beaten him Sunday.

Look at this link above, interesting report here.

From the above article:

But I will tell you this, outside of 10 was out of play until Friday night in the round of 8. So I will let you draw your own conclusions to that.

And from lane (pair) to lane.

I was told by a guy I know that bowls a lot of the TQRs, he said thatthey tinker with the patterns a little bit every week, and even from Day to Day.

The Baltimore tournament they modified the Scorpion shot 3 times.  At least that is what I was told.
