Title: so the new 11-12 schedule is out.
Post by: BrianCRX90 on July 20, 2011, 12:03:52 PM
Again it's not a tour. It's a few stops in a few cities that has multiple stops. I don't know wtf the PBA is doing

It is terrible.  If it is not the extreme North and the West Coast, there is no "tour".  I think it is more they cant find centers that want the Tour so they have to go to the places that do.  Not only that, but the bowlers almost cant afford the travel expenses anymore since the money on tour has decreased so they find places that will hold the Tour for multiple weeks to help in that regard.  The PBA cant find more/better sponsors to help with financials so this is there way of trying to keep the Tour active so it doesnt fall to the same fate and the ladies tour.  Thats my guess.

Peace doesnt always have to be silent.

It's not so much as they can not find centers to hold events, this is partly true but it is because they have no money to hold any more events even when a center would like to pay the hosting fees.

There have been a few bowling centers the last 2 or so years that have shown interest in paying the hosting fees, only to be told no by the PBA.   More events are not in the budget.

These guys buy the PBA and hope it takes off without them investing money in their own product. That is funny. The PBA is trying to spend as little as possible which is why they have 3 non televised tournaments this year and the majority of the tour stops are in one center and one region. Just rename it the LasVegas Regional Tour and be done with it.

Be good, or be good at it.

I believe that Chris Peters and his partners have sunk millions into the PBA with very little if any return on their investment.  What they seem to be doing of late is simply trying to keep their heads above water.

This is the make or break year it would seem.  We have all voiced our opinions, now you keep your fingers and toes crossed.

Bowling probably wouldn't feel too much of an impact if there was no pro tour but the growth of the sport would be diminished alot.   With highschool and college bowling rapidly growing, there might be something in the future for the sport.
