Todays Show - Spoiler
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:09:23 AM »
Yes today's show was pretty brutal to watch.  But I felt bad for Kretzer that they cut to commercial for his final shots.  Poor guy finally wins a tournament and you don't get to see him finish it out.  At least they showed him holding the trophy for a second during the fade out sequence.
Current Equipment
Alpha Jackal
Jackal Flash
Primal Shock
Rogue Assassin
Revolt Havoc
Revolt Vengeance
Venom Shock
Blue Coral Venom
Fatal Venom
Dessert Tank

Just let the PBA rest in peace already. Somebody call the time of death so we can move on.

Let's see:

  • Complain about scores being too high

  • Complain about scores being too low

  • Complain about bowling with "plastic" equipment

  • Complain about missed spares

  • Complain about Kulick bowling in the ToC

  • Complain about the bracket format

  • Complain about about 2 bowlers bowling a 3-game set, and the best score wins

I'd like to see some of you house hacks (I'm one too) bowl with one pattern on one lane, and another pattern on another lane.  If you don't like it, then don't watch, or at least offer the PBA ideas of what they can do to improve their telecasts.

If you think you're good enough, then put your money where your mouth is, shoe up, and show the rest of us how it's done.

Being good enough to compete with the pros is a separate issue. When the PBA is on television, we're only to assume it's there for the audience's benefit. Otherwise, hold it in a barn somewhere and report the results afterwards.

Any time a sport moves out onto the plane of television, what they're doing is offered up for public comment. Has nothing to do with being "as good as they are." Has everything to do with whether we're getting something out of the telecast or being entertained.

And, to that end, any viewer of a PBA telecast is free to comment on the quality of the shows themselves, whether they can bowl or not. This includes comments on the announcers, format, camera work, etc. There was just too much gimmicky stuff going on this year and the season never got into a rhythm.

Just so - we the bowlers, who bowl frequently and who buy equipment are what supports bowling, not the PBA - not even the USBC, their claims not withstanding.

If the PBA wants to do entertainment - then it better entertain the audience.

Baseball game score 1-0 = pitchers duel
Football game score 10-3 = defensive struggle
Golf tournament winner +1 = tough course for shotmakers

For some reason when bowling is below 240 you people need to b**ch and moan and cry about how boring it is.  Enjoy what you're getting to see...the best in the world at what they do.  None of you (and by none I mean NONE) can hold a candle to their talent, I don't give a s**t about how much you hook it during league.

I agree the show wasn't fun to watch yesterday, but not every football game makes you jump out of your seats either.  Be glad you have something to watch...because I can guarantee you if we don't find a way to support the game and PROMOTE it...we won't.

Little known fact:  In Russian "Hope" and "Change" translate to "Tax" and "Spend"

If a baseball game was 1-0 because the umpire had a strike zone 100 feet wide, then yes I would complain...

If a football game was 10-3 because there were 5 careless fumbles, 10 easy dropped passes and missed field goals from 15 to 20yds out, then yes I would complain...

If a golf tourney winner was +1 because people missed bunch of 1 foot easy putts, then yes I would complain...

If a PBA bowler won a tourney with 170 game because people missed single pins and missed the 3,6,10 a bunch of times, then yes I would complain...

To many sloppy PBA shows in my opinion...

why isnt the same happening to softball. you see the girls on tv playing real "sport" softball then you have the 30-45 year old guys in a slow pitch bar league and they know they are playing a different kind of game just for fun and they know the girls are much better than them. why cant league bowlers that bowl under easier conditions for fun acknowledge and know that the guys on tv are much better than them and bowl on conditions they will never be able to compete on.

The vast majority do. It''s just the cryers and whiners who want to go back to throwing a ball that hooks all of 3 boards on lacquer finished lanes and think unlike other sports, bowling should not advance technologically at all."

Horse pucky - the PBA is a business - it either supplies what the TV public wants, and makes a profit - or it goes away - it has very little to do with those of us that are on this site, but everything to do with TV viewers switching channels to see what it on - and if they don''t like what they see they won''t be around for the commercial. The PBA sure isn''t going to make any money off the attendance - Geezzz
