Dear god...all storm/roto wow.
-
Hey and u gotta give it up for all 5...they're all up and comers....good for whoever wins this one!
-
Nothing personal but I just can't stand watching Maldonado bowl. Great event for Storm that's for sure!

Maldonado and Simeonson are the real deal. I've been watching all week. These guys can draw these extreme angles that no one else can and repeat shot after shot after shot, when other guys were struggling to 3 bagger without leaving a split or flat back row pin. Marshall Kent has been a world beater for years now, this is his huge coming out party. I can't see how he doesn't run away with this tonight. He made this look like china at every single phase of the tournament.
You might see some Code Black's and Dare Devils on the show. These balls looked great on the fresh to the double burn. Haywires looked to be the balls of choice on the fresh. Every bowler should tune in tonight if you can.

Looked like quite a few Phaze II's used as well.
-
^^ Another ball that looked great on the fresh. Lavoie will most likely be throwing that.

I saw a lot of DareDevils on burn and double burn. I'm expecting to see Szcerbinski and Lavoie throwing the Haywire or Phase II. I could see Maldonado and Simonsen both throwing a Phase II or even a Pitch Black. I'd bet on Kent throwing a Code Black, he shot up the leaderboard after he switched to one in qualifying and kept it going

Simonsen is throwing a Crossroad in practice. It looked like Szcerbinski was throwing a Code Black

Is it me, or did the PBA move away from that longstanding tradition of the US open pattern being a flat pattern across the lane? Looking at at least the opening match when they talk about the pattern, it definitely isn't like what they had in previous years.

I was there live. Simonsen threw a Pitch Black for the majority of practice with a few attempts with a Rocket Ship and Daredevil. In a nice gesture he gave those two balls to some youth bowlers in the crowd. Szcerbinski was throwing a No Rules and Haywire for the majority of practice and the show.
In practice, every bowler threw at least a 6 bagger. The look that they had for 15-20 minute to when the show started was drastically different. With everyone playing out with surface, they broke them down enabling them to get a lot of hook out of the pattern when that wasn't the case during the week on the fresh.

During qualifying 2 Dollar Phil B. from XFrame mentioned that Chad Murphy/USBC wanted a pattern that was playable for most on the outside for the first 8 game block (Fresh), play the middle for the second 8 game block (1st Burn), and play left for the third 8 game block (2nd Burn). From what I saw he got his wish.

I watch qualifying and match play on xtra frame. Looks like murphy got what he wanted on the pattern. Glad to see them give the pattern a little shape so most players played 3 zones on the lane. Definitely a true test.

After watching this weekI can't wait for my code black! A DD would be nice too, but I'm a Democrat living in a Republican world! $$$ :'(

Just wait until Trump gets his hands on NAFTA. That'll shake up the bowling industry a bit.

I thought about that as well. The ole 40 foot / completely flat brutality pattern......so difficult. Figure out how to hit the pocket and leave makeable spares and MAKE THEM!

I ended up getting a Code Black off of a staffer this week. It is in the shop getting redrilled with a Crossroad that I just picked up. My bag is as big as when I was bowling collegiate. There's just so much good stuff out.
Mark my words, Code Black will be that ball that you see everyone shooting 300 with within a few weeks of release. The path that ball takes to the pocket creates a huge window for strikes.
