I read that the PBA has at least 2-3 variants of each pattern on the tour. In addition, they tweak the patterns between seasons.

Below are the total oil volumes of the regular patterns used in the PBA Experience leagues (Brush system) of the USBC:

Cheetah 23.96 mL
Viper 22.34 mL
Chameleon 20.4 mL
Scorpion 22.6 mL
Shark 23.96 mL

Wow.  Figured it would be higher than that.

When I was a mechanic, we had to record how much oil was topped up (i.e. used) each day and it averaged about 20-25ml per lane (THS pattern).

Was just wondering because I've been shooting on the Team USA patterns lately and I thought the volumes were low.  Outside of the long pattern they are identical-mostly.

If you are bowling on the Team USA patterns in one house, it's the house that's making the patterns play the same.  The same house can also make different volumes of oil play different depending on friction.

23ml's on old hooking HPL's will feel like 15ml on new ProAnvilanes.

That's really scary considering after a while I was overhooking a 48' pattern today.

Where did your hooking the ball on a 48" pattern get you? To the pocket?

For me, the main challenge on the PBA Experience patterns is staying in the pocket and keeping up with how transition affects carry.
