What a shame that Brad Angelo....
« on: January 28, 2007, 12:34:18 PM »
...couldn't provide any evidence to the "lefties have it made" theory of late.  Angelo was so erratic couldn't have hit the ground with a ball if he would have thrown if out of a fourth story window.

Seriously, if you've watched the tour the last two weeks, you've seen the lefties dominate.  It happens.  However, if you look closer, you'll be able to notice why.  With very few exceptions, Couch has been amazingly accurate while throwing an angry bowling ball.  Sure, he's strayed a board here and there.  Even these guys miss once in a while.  For the most part, IMHO, the lefties have had success the past few weeks because they've scored AND bowled better than their opponents.  Angelo had the entire lane to himself.  Which, for some, is as much a hindrance as it is help.  For these guys, never.  Norm Duke explained this to a "t".  He had plenty of opportunity to burn in his line or create a little hold area durng practice and the breaks.

Angelo looked absolutely horrible out there. He had no consistency and his accuracy was non-existent. He seemed very erratic and kind of all over the place.

Not really trying to diss Brad Angelo, but to me he looked like a guy coming off a 3 day drunk.  Bowled about the same way.

I agree 100%.  Him and Mike Machuga are the worst bowlers I have ever seen on TV.  I saw Mike Machuga in real life too and he is just as bad.

The right side was just nasty. He had a bad day. In practice nothing hooked. Why do we have to bash everybody that makes the tv show. This is why hardly an touring pros come on here. They don't want to hear how a bunch of idiots think they are better than them. Just shut up.

If you guys have never bowled on a nasty condition that made you look as bad as Brad, then I understand how you can say the things you are saying. When you have absolutely no shot, everything goes away including your confidence. If you ever do get a condition like that, I hope you think back on the comments you just made about him.

Lets also take into consideration that Angelo was not using the same ball he used all week.  Kind of hard to use a Smokin all week to use other balls that may not have matched up on that pattern quite as well on the tv show.  When you dont have a "look", you tend to force issues a little.

One of the best things I learned from my college coach is that "there is no such thing as a bad lane condition and no such thing as no shot".  I have followed this advice since and it has paid off.  People that complain that there is no shot or the lanes are bad are those that shouldn't be bowling in the PBA anyways.  It is similar to when people blame computers for everything going wrong from virus's to hard disk failures.  It isn't the computer (the bowling lanes), it is the operator (the bowler).  I could of beaten Brad Angelo throwing a straight ball from the outside line.

LOL...If Brad Angelo couldn't find it, then it probably wasn't there.  If you haven't ever been locked out then you haven't been to enough centers.

It has nothing to do with him not finding it.  Even the commentators were making fun of his lack of skill.  If he gets a strike and can't repeat that shot, then he never deserved to be on TV to begin with.  Also, whenever I "can't find it" as you say everyone experiences at some point, I don't blame the lanes.  I blame myself for not being accurate enough to repeat shots and not being skillful enough to "find it".  I find so many league bowlers crying about the lane conditions and it makes me mad.  When I bowl 250 one game and 160 the next game, I don't start complaining about the lanes.  I just admit that I choked and played poorly.

I think different on this matter, i believe it shows how good Brad really is overall. I sat behind him and watched him in the round of 64, he changes lines and hand positions as well as anyone out there. The bowler that did not impress me made the show and shot 230 that day Scroggins using the new shift ball. He is better than me thats is not hard to do most people on here probably are too, but i pride myself from my extensive coaching and bowling with world class bolwers that i know what i am watching in front of me.

PDW looked lost in the round of 64 does that make him bad also???? He is right handed and had really really bad ball reaction, he changed balls, lines everything and just kept throwing up his hands like what the he11 is this again?? I think they choose to shut down the right handers a few weeks and it will be a different deal as they go back east again. If you bowl out west even on regular league shots they change very quick here in vegas from the altitude 2200 feet and the dry desert air. You can have the nuts one game and it is gone in the next 5 frames, probably more my lack of vertisility but i see it happen to better bowlers left and right. Lower friction lanes surfaces and more oil volume has made you have throw oil sponges that unless you change fast your done.
