World Championships
« on: October 21, 2008, 01:15:41 AM »
With the first Tour stop upon us it is time to start asking who will win.  Who will win the World Championships this year and why.  I will say Wes Malott because he has the full support of Roto-Grip and a new line of top quality equipment that fits him well.

i think he wouldve had a better chance with columbia. you cant beat the rival series. the cell and cell pearl are over rated

Did Jeff Carter get bumped based on a tie breaker?

Also has John Nolen listed as tied for 52nd, but out of the cutline. Guess we'll find out tomorrow (but hopefully earlier, lol).

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

In looking at the list on PBA.com, there where several big names that did not make the top 53..

It looks like Wes had a tough week, but I am sure he will bounce back. He deserves a tourney or two to get used to the new RG stuff.. I feel confident he will do just fine this year, the guy has some serious talent.. He has been a model of consistancy the past 3 or so years..

Oh yea, to the user that said the Cell and Cell Pearl are over-rated, just curious, what information are you basing your comments on? Have you thrown both balls? If not, your comments don't mean a whole lot..

jkiser...

I have thrown both and I agree with him.

Good balls, yes, but not as good as the overhype makes them sound.

As far as "getting used to it", he's been on their staff for a while now, and he's had plenty of time to try their stuff and throw it. He had a bad week. He's a great bowler, but don't blame it on a lack of knowledge of the equipment. He'll be back.

I know Wes and bowled with him this summer in a small scratch league in Denton. Not sure what you consider "for a while now" but he has thrown the RG stuff since May 2008, when he signed with RG. I also never ever said he had a lack of knowledge of the equipment. I was just saying that while he was able to practice with the new stuff this summer at some local houses on mostly house shots and bowl a few regionals, thats no comparison to bowling on the exempt PBA shots, especially the World Championship pattern. I was not making an excuse for him, just stating my opinion. No doubt he will be just fine this year..

As far as your thoughts on the Cell and Cell pearl, thats fine. I personally have been very happy with both Cell's especially the Pearl. Some people just bash another company for no reason, without even throwing the ball they are bashing.. But you like you said, you used both balls and thought they where nothing special, and you are certainly entitled to those opinions.. That kind of thing happens with every new ball that comes out. Some people just don't give new stuff enough of a chance.. or they drill it wrong for there game.. I have seen that happen alot..

thanks for responding..
