5 games into USBC Masters and WRW no even averaging 200?

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

His scores really don't matter he will still qualify for match play based on his masters win last year. I'm sure he would like a higher seed than 64th though. He might be using qualifying to see what will work best for him when he gets to match play. Then again he hasn't bowled good all year so maybe he is running out of juice. I had also read somewhere that he has been fighting a wrist injury which might not be helping.

I think he's trying some of the equipment to see which is best, but he had a hernia surgery before the WSOB, so it could be bothering him still. Don't count him out just yet.

Considering his previous experience in seeded events I think it would be best for him to forego advancing and getting his equipment and game plan dialed in. If this is what he's doing I think it's a smart move on his part, but if it isn't it could be a long week.

I love his & Norm Duke's style of play. I would never count either of those 2 out. Maybe if Walter stops in at the local Denny's he will get some more juice. That's if he does not spill it at his mouth first. Just kidding with you APhelion.

Until he's at least 89 years old, I wouldn't count him out.

The longer the Tour is active, the less chance Walter Ray has to survive with all the young guns. Walter basically has no control over the ball technology at hand and that is what is now hurting the sport of bowling. If Walter Ray could go back to 1995 right now, he would win 15+ titles a year if not more. Id say today, his game may be better than ever, but it doesnt show because of all the advances in the bowling balls.

My question is, why in the world would you even bring up such a post like this? Walter is without a doubt what some consider the greatest player ever lived. He can have a bad bad year and not win one title this whole season. Us as bowlers know that he is not done,etc. Next year the man could come out the gate and win 5-10 striaght...

I personally bowl with alot of greats day in and day out with the likes of Guppy Troup/George Pappas and yeah with age, being a factor. They may not have the best showings sometimes, but ever now and then they will bring out the can of whoop arse and make your head spin! I am fortunate enough to have George on my roster in the Thur night league, and he shoots 750+ like 1 out of 3 nights........And you can take that one to the bank. John

He is 50-plus years old and coming off hernia surgery. The one undefeatable foe we all face is age. A decline is inevitable ... only question is when.

Age is a factor, as the ability to loft it and throw it hard with speed becomes not as easy as it once was. With how ridiculous the patterns are, requiring the young guys to UFO the ball down the lane, you can easily see where WRW and some of the older, traditional bowlers have some difficulty in keeping up with the field.

This being said, I think its the lane patterns and the match ups over the age factor at this time. When the sport promotes, encourages and showcases UFO bowling over the arrows, the game takes on a whole new identity and a skill set to play.

Well bouncing the < seed from the Masters is a good way of answering this post.

Sometimes a bowlers style doesn't match up great with.a line of bowling balls also. Switching to Track this season may have him searching for the right balls on the right patterns.

Mika was pretty dominant when he first came on the scene using Ebonite products. Signed with Brunswick and had terrible reactions. Now he is back with EBI and popping up on tv quite a bit. He is my odds on favorite with the field left at the Masters. Anyone could beat him but he is in a good grove lately.

the reason why i posted this is simple, for me WRW is a hell of a bowler, the only picture i see is WRW hitting the pocket to either strike or leave a 10 pin. when i checked the scores, i was surprised, 143? 174? 182?

Not only has Walter had hernia surgery, he has been having pain in his wrist. So he has a new span and new pitches. He just had this done, so it takes a while to get use to. When a bowler is use to a stretched span and then the span is shortened an inch, it takes a while. Walter's span is now an inch shorter. He started throwing it better in matchplay at the masters. He will probably bowl good at the us open.

WRW shortened his span an inch ? Did he go to a conventional grip ? That's a MAJOR change.
