I thought it a great publicity stunt and probably made people talk about bowling for a few days.
As they say all publicity is good. The PBA can really do with some from what I read on here.
As Mycroft said it was still a bit risky though.

They said later that the announcers made a mistake in adding the score. Actually, when Machuga got the second strike, he locked up the match. Then he did the flop.

If the rules in the US are the same as the UK then a deliberate foul in any part of a frame means a complete wipe out of that frame.
Thats why I thought it a bit dangerous.
