When the PWBA bowled here at Shore Lanes (one of my two "home" houses) in St. Clair Shores MI two years ago, one of the bowlers I bowled with in the pro-am was a rookie named Keli Rapp.  She struck me as having tremendous potential, and I watched her name in the standings as tournaments went on that year.  She never made the show, but did cash from somewhere in the middle of the pack most of the time.  She only bowled two tournaments last year, and I figured she just couldn't afford to travel so much for so little money.  I just saw her at the U.S. Open pro-am and spoke to her for awhile.  Amazingly enough, she remembered my name.  She has relocated from New York state to Las Vegas and has a job she likes as a civil engineer.  She is not planning to bowl many tournaments, because her job is full-time and she likes it.  She looks to me like she is throwing the ball better than ever and I think her potential is higher than ever.

Good luck to Keli Rapp!  When she succeeds, remember you got the heads-up here!

I bowled with Keli in a pro-am two years ago, and immediately liked her personally.  She also is tremendously talented as a bowler, and I started following her career in the daily tournament updates in our local paper.  I noticed that last year she only bowled a couple tournaments.  When I went up to the pro-am of the U.S. Open, primarily to make the acquaintance of michelle from this forum, I noticed that Keli was in the pro-am, so I spoke to her a bit.  I had exchanged a few emails with her, but it still surprised me that she remembered my name.  When I went to Sunnybrook Wednesday to watch the qualifying action, I mostly watched her, and she was on fire.  I missed the first game, but in the next three, she shot 279-256-279.  She sputtered a bit the next couple games, but finished strong to move up from 118th place to make the cut at 55th.  She averaged 235 for the Wednesday block.  I couldn't go on Thursday, but I was shocked when I saw the results.  I can't imagine what must have happened, but she went from +206 to +30 and last place of the group of 64.  I know she's happy with her regular job in Vegas, but I hope that she still gives it a go in some of the tournament stops--if there are very many more, that is.  I remain convinced that she will find big success in this game someday!
