Rockford

I drove up to Rockford last nightand saw the pros for the first time.  I was there for the B squad which included Feldman, Honeychurch, Gaines, Liz Johnson, Amy Dillon, Feldman, Macpherson, Kim Adler, and Kulick.

General impressions: Lots of corner pin problems.  Some of the college girls gave the pros a real run including Jennifer Driggs who was paired with MacPherson.  That grouping seemed to have a following entourage.  Every lane switch the "group" would move down and take over the section. It seemed like they finished before all the other pairings every time so as you were trying to watch one group finished, here came the "fan club."  They were big on clapping too.

Honeychurch and Adler are big on concentration.  They keep the game face on the whole time - focus, focus, focus.  For those of you who have not seen Kim in person, she is a very small and toned.  I would have introduced myself as a BR person but I had to leave before the end of the 8th game to drive home.

Kelly Kulick is a real athlete.  She is in great shape.  Kelly had to do some adjusting on her ball, thumb hole, but was looking very consistent.  Seems like a shy girl, but friendly.  I could learn a lot from her game I'm sure.

Michelle throws a ball like no one else.  I watched her just for the amazement of it.  She seemed to be having a good time chatting with friends on other lanes or behind her.

Kendra was very supportive of her college partners.  She took time out to speak to people and acknowledged praise from the spectators.  She had a real problem with 10 pin leaves all night.  The bounce in her approach step is fun to watch.  I was most interested in her game which I would love to emulate.  The local media had their cameras on her as defending champ and on a local college girl, Megan Roman who is in 3rd or 4th in the college division.

I am hoping to go up this evening to see the A squad before the cut to Top 24. I'm glad I did it.  It is great to get an unobstructed view of their style and to see how 2-3 pros are playing the same pair of lanes and/or pattern.
