COMMENTS
Likes: The overall hook of this ball is very impressive. When you see this ball in person the first thing most people are going to think is this ball is going to hook early but it doesn't. The Team at Radical designed this ball so that its hook is downlane (backend) hook and boy does it do that. As Phil mentioned in a post on this site "the Guru is hook in a box".  Look for many good things from the Guru this fall season.

Dislikes: Lighter patterns

LANE CONDITION

Length: 45'

Volume: N/A

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Sport

COMMENTS
I drilled the ball pin under center and kicked out at 45 degrees. It is a 3"-4" pin with 3 oz top weight. This will be your go to ball for heavy longer patterns.

Likes: I loved how the ball was able to recover on the longer patterns, where the other balls would not. It was able to continue down lane, while storing energy to move quickly through the heavy oil and enter the pocket. It did not stop there! The Guru continued to roll through the pins and not stop dead.

Dislikes: I do not have any dislikes about the ball. Most people would not like to use this on shorter patterns, but I was able to tame it down with a green scotch bright pad and move 6 boards left, while keeping it inside.

Likes:ok what I like about this ball is even with it being a solid and looks like it will hook at aarows the ball gets down lane nice and easy. the ball is a monster hooker and hits the pins like a wrecking ball. the loudest and hardest hitting ball I have ever seen or heard. I also love the look of the guru blk/org looks cool going down lane.

Dislikes:none at this point, maybe they will come out with a pearl or hyb. next :)

Likes This one of my favorite Radical's , this ball is very clean through the front end, very controllable through midland with very strong angular backend, hits very hard and carry has been nothing short of outstanding. I am a moderate rev bowler with a 45x4x35 layout and use this ball on a very poor house shot condition where there is a lack of proper stripping techniques. The Guru is a must own ball for nearly everyone

Dislikes: None

The Guru can best be described as "Hook in a Box".  Unlike other strong balls on the market, the Guru is still clean through the front part of the lane and makes its move in the mid-lane and backend where you want it.  I went with layout A (50 x 5 x 40) from the included drilling instructions and ended up with no hole.  Simply put, this ball is an absolute monster.  I have been able to use the Guru and a variety of conditions as long as I could find some oil.  This is an amazing ball that everyone should have in their bag.

Radical Guru (http://radicalbowling.com/balls/guru)
70 x 5.5 x 35 (OOB Surface)

Personal Stats:
400-450 RPM
18-20 MPH
PAP – 5 5/8” over, 1” up
Axis Tilt – Estimated 8-12 Degrees
http://youtu.be/XywVojKDWR4#t=1h12m50s (example)
Current League Average: 237
Sanctioned Sport Average: 210

Intended Use:
I drilled up a Radical Guru to compliment my Brunswick Mastermind and Mastermind Intellect on longer patterns. The original Mastermind provides ample hook for anything I see, but is often too early for optimal carry once a pattern starts to break down. The Mastermind Intellect compliments the original Mastermind well, but goes a little too long in the oil to make the switch when I would like to.  I was looking for a ball that would fit in between the two.

Reaction:
Wow. Just WOW. This ball hooks. Not only does it hook, it hooks in all the right places. Where the Mastermind hooks up front and in the middle of the lane, the Guru hooks just as much, all in the back 1/3 of the lane. I have never had a big-hooking Asymmetric solid that retained energy and went through the pins like this ball does. I am able to play ANYWHERE on the lane with this ball. On 43’ Chameleon, I can play out on the gutter and watch this thing just make a left turn at 43’ and demolish pins. OR, I can play 30 with a softer speed and watch this thing recover from anywhere I throw it and NOT burn up before it hits the pins. It really is an incredible ball reaction I haven’t had before.

Overall:
If you need hook, here it is. Hook in a box, just add holes! I went with a longer/flippier layout on this ball, so I can only imagine what it would do with a stronger layout. Anyone looking for that new “wow” ball, it’s sitting right here with a Radical logo on it!

Guru

Layout 70 x 5 x 75

I’m a heavy roller with about a 350 rev rate.  Don’t have much axis tilt, don’t get around the ball much and struggle lots of times to get a ball to retain energy and corner at the pins.

The Guru from Radical Bowling Technologies instantly had my attention reminding me of the old Sumo ball look.  Plus, I like Black bowling balls since they mask my hideous ball roll.  They also are visually appealing because you end up seeing the ball motion more clearly.

This ball for me is a control ball on heavy oil with still plenty of kick on the backend to get through the pins the right way.  I have had zero issued getting 3 games out of this ball on any particular league night. Playing anywhere from 3rd arrow inside to 5th arrow.  No problems looping the ball to the extreme outsides and seeing it return to the headpin with force.  In other words, really don’t worry about this ball burning up in the fronts.  I plan to acquire a second one as soon as I recover from Christmas spending.

This ball is really special.  Nothing compares to it.  If you don't have one in your bag, you're at a clear disadvantage.  It is CLEAN and STRONG.  It shines on higher volumes but I use it every week at league.  This ball has propelled me to being in the top 5 in averages in league.

Dislikes: Lower volumes.  This is a STRONG BALL.

Bowler Stats:
18-19 mph
400-425 rpm
7-9 degree tilt
40-60 degree rotation

Layout: 45 degrees by 5" by 45 degrees

Initial thoughts: At first I thought the Guru might not be able to deliver on all of it's hype. A dull asymmetric that hooks a ton and is still angular at the breakpoint? That's bowling's equivalent to catching a unicorn. I just had to get my hands on this ball and see for myself.

On the lanes: $%!# this ball hooks. Couple with the fact that it's pretty angular downlane and I'm thoroughly impressed. After a single shot, my jaw dropped and it only dropped lower from there after each shot. This ball lives up to all of its hype. A house that I bowl league in is notorious for a heavy volume house pattern on very low friction synthetics with little free hook outside (unless your speed is low). I'd been fairing pretty well throwing something smooth (sanded pin-down LT-48) up 2nd arrow on the fresh until I could really move in. Now with the Guru I have an amazing look starting about 3rd arrow (trust me, 3rd arrow feels really deep on the fresh shot here) and I can actually stick with the Guru all night during this league. Through the 3 games of league, I can just gradually inch deeper throughout the night and not have to worry about the Guru not cornering enough to snap out the 10 pin. After starting out at about 3rd arrow in game one (out to about 8 at the breakpoint) with the Guru, I usually finish game 3 with the Guru around 22-23 at the arrows still out to about 8-9 at the breakpoint. Throughout the entire night, the Guru allows me to get inside of everyone, save for a few older gentlemen who hook the whole lane at only about 13mph.

While I feel the Guru is in a class all it's own, here are some comparisons. The Guru is an easy 4 board move inside with my feet from my Intellect (with a weaker layout) and those 4 boards appear to be split between the midlane and backend reaction. The Guru is about 5 boards stronger than my Intrigue with the same layout with the difference being the stronger midlane.

Closing Remarks: The Guru has firmly cemented itself at the top end of my both my league and tournament bags. The combination of tons of hook and plenty of angularity gives me a ball reaction that I have never seen before. I know if the Guru doesn't hook, nothing will. Get yours today and experience the hook and reaction that everyone is talking about.

Radical Guru

I drilled 2 Gurus already and cannot be anymore pleased with the performance of the balls

1st Guru drilled 40 x 3 x 35... This ball starts up super early giving me a very controlled roll. With this ball I fired off my first ever back to back 300 games. With the great friction of the surface it created down lane area that you wouldn't believe. If you got it in the oil it still dug in and carried the corner.

2nd Guru I went for a lot of down lane angle. Drilling 60x 4 1/2 x 40... This ball gets down lane and turns. With this ball I am able to open up my angles even a long pattern such as the PBA Scorpion.  This ball allowed me to keep the target in front of me but still keep a smooth arm swing and not have to try and slow it down to hook.. It gets down lane and really turns the corner with minimal effort

This is a ball to have in your bag expecially even on house shots were they are playing super wet dry. With this ball in your hand you can get in the oil and still get it to turn the corner.

Bowling Style:
   Rev rate: 300 rpm
   Speed: 16-17 mph
   PAP: 5” right, ½” up
Layout:
   50 x 5” x 45
   x-hole: N/A
Surface:
   OOB
Comments:
One phrase to describe this ball, never seen before. Since I have a lower rev rate, I tend to try a lot of these high end high reaction balls. The Guru is like none I have ever tried. Most of the time the high aggressive balls either roll early through the heads and mid lane, but have nothing left when they get to the pins or they get through the heads fast and give me too much angle down lane. The Guru though gets through the first 15’ effortlessly and then gets into a strong roll through the middle part of the lane, but it still has energy to continue all the way through the back of the pin deck. The versatility that Radical balls can be drilled with also gives you at least four different balls with one ball. The one dislike that I have of this ball is that it needs oil. The two houses I bowl league in do not put out enough volume for the Guru to be used, but I have used this ball on Kegel’s Beaten Path as well as 2014 Open team pattern on Brunswick Pro Anvil lanes. This ball gave me a look I did not see last year on this pattern even with the most aggressive ball at the time, it gave me the opportunity to not only break the pattern in quicker but also the versatility of this ball let me play where I felt most comfortable to play. This ball is at least 3-4 boards stronger for me than anything I have thrown in the past. Any bowler can find a use for this ball in there arsenal.
