Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with the Reax Gusto. I recently drilled one for a RH and I put the pin under the bridge, with the cg kicked to the right. I don't have his measurements in front of me but this put the pin at least 4 to 4 1/2 from his axis. I would classify him as a tweener leaning to a stroker. he threw the ball OOB and the ball went dead straight. Then a friend of ours who is a two hander with plenty of revs threw it and it went dead straight for him as well. We then knoced off the shine with a 2000 pad and they both threw it again and the ball barely hooked. In comparison his Infinite Theory drilled the exact same way was crossing many boards and this is a house that has plenty of hook. Weight hole was put in the PSA and I re-weighed it to make sure.
Not bashing, I love Radical, just curious if anyone else had any issues.
Thanks

I drilled one a couple weeks a go and I love mine. Drilled it pin above bridge mass bias in thumb hole. Definitely don't have an issue with it not hooking. Now I will say though that I drilled a Brunswick exile pin down and I had the exact same problem with it that you are describing. Very frustrating indeed.

Thank you for your feedback.

A friend of mine has a pin down Gusto and I believe it is at 2000 also, his speed is 18-19mph and for him the ball reads early and has a smooth even motion off the end of the pattern

Not a ball for much oil......the lowered differential combined with the mild cover makes it much better when conditions are on the drier side. I have 2 and the earlier rolling one with 2000 works really good on med patterns but anything slightly heavy forget about it. The ball was designed as a step down from the V2 so don't expect it to be a ball to cover the whole lane.

If the cg is kicked right is the mb also kicked right?
-
Yes both are kicked rivht...cg and mb are in line.

Is the mb on or past the bowlers VAL? Sounds like the surface isn't right for the amount of oil it is on or the bowler using it. The one I saw being thrown was very clean with some good movement down lane. Needs friction or some surface depending on the condition.

The numbers on the ball kind of made me feel it was a ball that was a asym. for lighter conditions. When I added surface to mines (1500) it rolled very well because I was noticing the same thing you saw. Once the mids get choppy and the shot has broken down The Gusto faired better then for me. I spoken with others and they tend to use it on lighter shots as well.

I have mine drilled pin up above ring finger, but slightly stronger. The ring finger is drilled deeper, so no balance hole is needed. The intention was to give me length and create angle for late in a block. In my experience so far, I find the ball to be quite smooth and responsive off the spot. I've had no issues with pin carry. I've used it on a fresh WTBA Athens pattern (as posted elsewhere here) and then a Kegel recreation pattern.
What I have found work best for me is going with a 500 pad again and then use royal compound only. I have tried 500 pad/royal compound/4000 pad. With the 4000 pad, it checked a bit too early.

You're dead on with that. When I made surface adjustments like I did with other lines for whatever reason it didn't work for me. When I went to 500 rough buff and the pieces worked well. I try to vary some but stay close to what you're doing.
