Title: Need help with Ridiculous
Post by: rocklobster on February 12, 2016, 08:41:45 PM
I purchased the Ridiculous about five weeks ago. The Hook I am getting is a far cry from what I was expecting from how it is marketed and review videos I watched. After taking the polish off not much has changed. In looking at the ball, I'm concerned that the pin-cg distance is about 1" across the right of my ring finger. My ring finger hole is a few inches deeper than the other and I assume it goes into the core. Wouldn't this change the RG of the ball? I'm a little ignorant to the physics but all the research I did led me to believe this was the perfect ball for me and it just doesn't cover many boards and hits softer than anything I have. Any ideas out there as to what the problem could be?

Cover is the bigger factor then the depth of the holes on your reaction. Your style plus the conditions you are bowling on is also a huge factor.

If you used your cell phone and took a video of you throwing the ball a few times and this reaction you are getting we could have a much better idea of possible solutions. Surface is likely going to be the easiest solution. Easier assessment to make if seeing the ball in action vs not seeing it.

I'll take some video with it to post here. I thought surface change was the a254nswer as well, but after taking a pad to the surface, not much has changed. I'm especially concerned with a lack of power through the pins. It's 10 pin city.

What surface changes did you try?  Also include a pic of the layout,  or just show it in the video for reference.

To answer your original question, drilling the fingers deep will lower the differential, especially if it takes out a lot of core.

How much does this ball flare for you?

To me my Ridiculous is a medium to light oil ball. I also have it drilled fairly aggressively also. Definitely needs a defined friction spot to get it going, but once it does it really moves. This is usually my 3rd game ball. I would say it is a little over priced for what your getting.
