Title: New on the Approved list.......
Post by: WOWZERS on January 27, 2015, 12:24:12 PM
For those of you who have not seen, the Approved Ball list has a Greese Monkey Whack and a Guru Mighty. The Guru Mighty looks an awful lot like the ball in the Guru comparison vid mentioned as "coming soon".

Wonder what these 2 are all about if they are truly coming to the market soon, ie covers, etc.

WOWZERS!

Word on the street is the new guru outperforms the previous one, and the original had no competition!

I remember the talk on the Guru comparison thread and Phil mentioned the new Guru was a completely different level of coverstock innovation. Didn't say solid/pearl/hybrid though. I cannot imagine what this one does.

RB, I guess that means you'll soon be shooting long distance numbers a la 1-area code+7-digit number.

If that is a Pearl Guru I think I might be in love

It's been said that the "coming soon" ball in the video is not a solid, not a pearl, and not a hybrid, but something new.  I'm so confused and curious.  Hard to imagine anything better than the Guru...

With the Mo, Phil, and the Mad Scientists at Brunswick I can only imagine what they have devised for this new Guru.

here is a little skinny for you guys regarding the cover and core combo. first off the core is the same as the original Guru, identical numbers, shape and density. secondly the cover is the same base resin formula. So how does it perform so differently you may ask.
We dye our resins we do not use pigment so there is no impact of color on the performance of our shells. We do use additives to get the desired length and shape regarding ball motion.
When you look at the ball it will have a solid blue and a pearl "looking" green color combo. In reality they are both the same resin, its esthetic only. We used an additive combination to create the exact motion. If we desired we could make a solid black ball roll exactly like a skid flip pearl. This is the newest technology in the market. that is why the Guru does what it does and why the new Guru can actually offer a totally new performance, it is a great ball and I guarantee you will all be pleasantly surprised.

Why I love places like this and Bowling Chat.   So much knowledge and intel to be had.

Thanks for the update

That sounds simply amazing Phil!  By the way, where's Mo been lately.  I haven't seen him posting anything on bowlingchat for a while and his facebook page has been pretty quiet?  Do you have him locked up in a room somewhere designing new Radical cores?

Phil, if the Guru mighty has essentially the same construction characteristics as the Guru original, save for the additive characteristics that produces, what, about a foot more in length and equally as strong response on the backend, can it be used on fresh heavier oil volumes? Or will it need a defined hook/hold area?

I think it works great out of the box on heavier patterns but ideally when you need a bit more length than the Guru.

With the right surface could this lower revs/speed bowler use it on THS?

I am a rev dominant player due to my slower speed and I used it on the house shot. I didn't change the surface just used the control drilling layout that is on our website and in the box.

If pearlized is an esthetic is it safe to say the difference in pearlized and solids is based on surface and additives not the "pearlized appearance? Does baking temps affect the hook of the cover? Same cover backed at two different temps get different results on lane?

From the conference calls we've had with Phil, Mo, & the Brunswick "Scientists" the shape is created using one of the base resins and then adding one or more of the additive for the reaction (hook, skid, etc.) the color or apperance is just cosmetic.

If the shape is created based on the additives used could someone please make a video comparison with both balls finished at the same surface to show the difference the additives make.

After watching the video again, i see that the balls are at box finish so the surface is not the same (1500 vs 4000)
