Well, new league year, time for a new ball. I've been hovering around 200 avg for the last 3 years. It's been a steep hill to climb it feels like. I've had the same issue with the majority of the balls I've thrown: smash the pocket... leave a single pin: 7's, 8's, 10's, heck even a 9 or two. It never seemed to matter how i got the pocket it was the same results.
I wanted to try something different, so I asked my local pro-shop guy what to get. His suggestion was a Torrid Elite so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I picked it up the first night of league. It had the standard pin up layout. I shot 500 on the nose. I had more splits in one night than I care to remember. So, I took it back and had it re-drilled with pin down in the middle of the fingers and took just a bit of the shine off. Now, I've got to tell you, this ball is absolute money. Week two after picking it up redrilled I shot 670 followed by 718 in week 3. The carry this ball has is phenomenal! If it's near the pocket the pins explode. I'm turning into a Radical believer! Now, to just figure out what I need for a ball up, torn between the Yeti and the Reax solid.
thanks Radical!

I would suggest the Torrid Affair as a great benchmark ball, great compliment to the Torrid Elite.
Seeing how you like the Elite I think you would like the Yeti.

Thanks Radical or thanks new drilling matching up to your drilling and your roll and this ball?

I mean thanks to Radical. I've thrown a lot of equipment with the right drilling without the same results. I've had Columbia Rival (Original blue), Mission 2.0, Storm iQTP. They all seemed to lack the carry that this ball has. The iQTp is a great ball but it needs the right situation to put it in play for me.
I'm a medium speed (~15 mph) and low-med rev (300 rpm) player just for some rough idea of my style.
Thanks for the suggestion Robert. I might give the Yeti a go.

Thank you for your support, our goal is to provide a better experience to the average bowler on avg lane conditions. Your ball speed and rev rate fit right in our wheel house. The EZ-use balls are perfect for what you need in order to strike more. I think you might enjoy the Torrid affair as a step up ball with a slightly more aggressive drilling or simply the same drilling with a bit more surface. The cover on the Torrid affair is stronger than the Torrid Elite.
We know how to get more strikes, glad you gave us a chance, perfect testimonial for our mission.

Not to steal howler's thunder, but I am also trying Radical for the first time. I bowl in a Sports league, I have higher speed (18-19 MPH) and higher revs (380-390 RPM). I am trying the Reax solid at the moment, and so far I am really liking this ball. Our house usually seems to play slicker then the shots are described and the Reax is eating it up. If not for operator error, I would have some solid scores to post so far this season, lol. I am going to be trying the Yeti and/or the Reax Pearl next.
And to newguy, I just want to say keep up the good work. Have been a fan of your equipment going back to Dynothane. I fell in love with the Remedy PHD, shooting multiple honor scores in the first few months with it, in a house with very few of them in general, and haven't looked back since. Looking forward to seeing the next releases from Radical.

If you need stronger wait for the next Reax if you want weaker the Yeti or Torrid affair should do the trick

Anyone wanting to try Radical that needs a starting point needs to drill the Torrid Affair.
IMO there isnt a better ball right now at that price point.

As I said earlier in the forum I felt the Torrid Affair could be mid priced ball of the year. Great value and performance.

I have a question Phil. Will you be puting out another ball in the Yeti line this season?
-
Yea he mentioned a stronger Reax so that's one. I think a new Yeti will be coming also, probably a solid or Hybrid since the original was a pearl.

Just a quick update. Another great night out with the Torrid Elite. 289 - 707. It's been a long time since I had the opportunity to shoot at a perfect. Unfortunately operator error (nerves mostly) prevented it. I'm a very happy bowler! Definitely will be adding another Radical to my arsenal.

H031 - what pattern/conditions & surface do you bowl on? Our specs are similar & I am shopping for a medium to m/l ball. I have High Street on older Proanvilane. THX

I bowl on newer synthetics (I actually don't know which ones). It's a THS. I don't bowl on any sport shots. That said, the lanes typically play tighter than most THS at the other centers nearby.
The torrid elite I have is cg in the palm and drilled pin down between the fingers, also i knocked the shine off a bit (just one pad down should do it). With my revs and speed, pin up and OOB surface the ball was way too jumpy and didn't give me a good, repeatable mid-lane read.
With this layout, the carry is really spectacular for me. I hope this helps!

Weaser look at the Torrid Affair great all around ball that likes both THS and Medium Sport shots.

:)I have thrown nothing but Brunswick for the past twenty years, I recently drilled up a couple new Radical's , a Reax pearl and a Yeti, I like them both, I get a bit more out of the Yeti but I keep going back to the Reax Pearl. Both balls carry extremely well and hit real hard well. So far I am very impressed with these
