Title: Radical Guru (new ball)
Post by: spencerwatts on October 01, 2014, 11:23:30 AM
Now I'm a bit torn. I've had my eye on the Brunswick Intellect. Here's the video on the Radical Guru. Has a completely different core. I'm sure Phil and Mo are sitting behind their desks laughing it up.

The Mastermind Intellect actually uses a solid cover.

Wow, that's Radical!!!  Obviously this ball is not for your normal THS since most centers do not put out a heavy oil shot.  Great job though to fill a heavy oil ball gap.

Tommyboy, I just realize that snafu. I've been looking at the Intellect, and I was planning to part with my $$$ later this month for it. But now Phil and Mo have come out with this, the Guru. How about #notsofastmyfriend.

Have to love when choices get a bit harder?  I have to say the stuff from Brunswick/DV8/Radical continues to look more impressive all the time.

New cover, new core, this is hook in a box....But its down the lane hook. Just the way we like it. Wow that's Radical!

Gary was tickled pink about this release. This was a nice gesture to him and more so with his name attached to a great ball. I told him that I was going to have him drill it and take pic of him doing it. Radical I must say you're really putting pressure on the market and setting the bar very high. Keep up the great work and Team Big B is rolling full speed ahead.

NewGuy, I have asked one of your ball testers to pick a Utah piece of his choice so we can do a comparison to the GuRu. I am eagerly awaiting his response so we can hush this talk of "hook in a box."  8)

A friend of mine attended the seminar in Detroit Friday. He picked up a Radical Guru for me. I have been out of bowling for over 30 years. The ball out of the box is awesome. I shot 205,199,188 not the greatest scores except I'm a 165 average bowler. I have been throwing mostly a Storm Hy road and Optimus. Both also great balls. The Guru by far was the superior ball.

Thank you for posting, I love hearing from people that are not being compensated for saying good things about a company's new release.

I went to the product demo in East Hartford, CT. The Guru is impressive! The comparison video they did was great. It really showed the strength of the ball and it's ability to create entry angle vs. many of the industry's high end releases. I got to throw Parker Bohn's Guru and the first thing he said as I stepped up was you better move right!! He wasn't kidding, that ball hooks. Yet another great ball from Radical!

Congrats. If you get ready to compliment the Guru give the Yeti Uncaged a look fits nicely under the Guru.

I was reading the November 2014 edition of Bowlers Journal Magazine last week, and the "Ball Motion Potential" chart for the newly reviewed balls caught my attention. There was one ball that was literally off the chart, and it was the Radical Guru. I went ahead and read the Guru ball review, and it concluded with the following: "This is the most hook I have seen in all our reviews this year, and has probably the most hook out of any ball I've ever seen".

I didn't know if it was hype or reality, but I've been impressed with BJ's accuracy in reviews in the past, so I filed it away for future reference. Fast forward to yesterday, and I saw my pro shop guy had a Guru on display. To make a long story short, I pulled the trigger and bought it. I had a chance to throw it on a fresh THS today.

The ball seems to be what BJ Magazine says it is. I was able to throw the Guru deeper in our THS puddle than any other ball I own, and it consistently recovered. When I tried to throw straight up the 8 board where I was striking with my other aggressive equipment, the Guru was going Brooklyn and barely hitting the head pin. Not that it really matters, bit I love the no non-sense black cover, absent the silly color schemes now found on most other balls.

I'm looking forward to throwing the Guru on the longer PBA patterns we use in our sport shot league. If the Guru ends up to be what I believe it to be, I'll end up getting one or two more drilled for PBA tournaments in 2015. This is my first experience with Radical, and I'm impressed. Kudos to Radical to producing a ball that seems to deliver it's promise.
