Just saw a post on BBE saying that Radical will become Radical Bowling Technologies and will be poured by Brunswick.
Anyone else hear this?
-
Yes, confirmed.
Brunswick R&D will work along side Phil Cardinale and Mo Pinel to make Radical Bowling Technologies a techie dream come true.
From Phil:
"Here is what you can expect moving forward; we have broken the Radical Bowling Technologies product line into three performance levels - E-Z Use, Reliable, and Top Shelf. E-Z Use will be the lowest price point in the line. E-Z Use balls will have symmetrical cores and versatile coverstocks and will be designed for typical league shots and lighter oil lane conditions.
The Reliable price point will consist of stronger symmetrical core designs and more aggressive reactive coverstocks to provide a bit more performance on medium to heavier oil. The Reliable balls will target the league and tournament bowler who need a bit more performance than our E-Z use line offers. Reliable means just that, the first ball out of the bag, readable and usable by all.
The Top Shelf line will be our most technically advanced bowling balls characterized by the use of strong asymmetrical cores, aggressive coverstocks, and comprehensive drill patterns. The Top Shelf balls will be totally “teched-out†with some “out-of-the-box†thinking! These balls will be ideal for heavier oiled lanes or bowlers just wanting to cover as many boards as possible. A Techies Dream. Top Shelf balls will be our highest price point, and they will perform as advertised and will be worth every penny."

So, does this mean that the Radical equipment and/or the new name will be possibly approved for PBA competition?
Also, Phil said there's new equipment coming out but this was prior to you confirming this Nick. So is the new releases Phil was referring to are going to be under the new company name?
-
The first ball slated for release is the Torrid Elite. It will fall in the EZ Use pricepoint.
These balls will not be PBA Product Registered for the time being, but that can change in the future.
-
Torrid Elite = Triton Elite?
-
I don't know about that... I just hope it isn't purple with sparkles.
-
I was waiting for you to show up doom!! Lol
-
Nick,
Will the resin formulation still be the same as the old stuff? I just ordered me an HD and a Torrid, and as wondering if it will still be the same covers, or Brunswick mixed covers, since, if I understand what im reading, will now be a part of Brunswick, ala DV8?
-
Also, did Phil have to give up the Soaker coverstock to you guys? Im not trying to sound mean or anything, because this is a great business move for Phil. The Brunswick team has much more exposure and manpower to help Radical get where it should be, and I can't help but think that Phil plus Mo makes me tingle a little, but bang it, I haven't matched up well to big B covers since pk17. When was the last time Brunswick poured Norwich?
-
I am sorry for the seemingly drunk post above. My phone's dictionary doesn't know bowling terms and companies. :p
-
Also, I apologize for all the ADHD posts. Was Radical being poured in San Antonio or Salt Lake? Their Facebook page lists Salt Lake as their location. Does that mean that Storm was pouring their covers?
ARGH! So many questions! Just wait until I'm not sitting here with my toddler, plus coffee, plus a full size keyboard!

Radical was poured by 900 global...storm does themselves and roto, used to do azo...but who knows whats going on with that brand
-
MoRich has been poured by Brunswick since the Ravage IIRC...
-
LOL, I doubt if Nick knows enough yet to answer everyone's questions, give the guy a break. Storm has never poured Radical equipment. Phil uses a blend of covers from several resin makers, not simply one mfger. until the last pour all Radical equipment has always been poured in San Antonio by Global.
He now will be able to use his blends as well as anything Brunswick has to offer, this encompasses cores and cover technologies, this info came straight from Phil yesterday in our phone conversation.
The newest release is a three color pearl called the Torrid Elite, has tremendous shelf and eye catching appeal. Suppose to be stronger than the Torrid, I have some ordered and hope to have them next week, February will continue the new releases with a E-Z ball and a Top Shelf new release, so stay tuned.
-
Steve, you are my rock. :)
-
If I could figure out how to post the pic I would.
-
Is that a 900 pour Steve? According to Nick, this ball will the first Brunswick poured ball.

That has Brunswick engraving written all over it...
-
this is the 1st release poured by Big-B, available next week as I'm told, still waiting for my order to arrive.
-
Yes, even the look of the colors makes me think Brunswick. Nice looking ball.
-
I was told its pearl with rough buff finish, low rg mid - high diff several boards stronger overall than the Torrid
-
Steve-
Check your pm's
-
I want to see the weightblock... :)
Also, can't wait to see what craziness Phil and Mo will come up with.
-
With those two working together and being able to use Big B's coverstocks, it's going to be scary!
-
from what Phil said its a modified Inferno core, maybe similar to the Code core possibly?? Don't really know haven't seen the spec sheet yet.
-
I have a Radical Slant that I love, but you lost me a Brunswick!! I'll be replacing it with a Lord Field asymmetrical ball, possibly the Heritage!
-
How about the Dart? Seen this on the approved ball list. Approved Dec '12. Any info on this one?

Being that there is no image on bowl.com... perhaps it's a plastic, spare ball, release with a few different color schemes?
-
Bruce, why bother replacing the ball that was made in SA just because Phil made a business decision? Doesn't change the ball in your hands. I just ordered a HD and a Torrid, and it's going to be business as usual. I do not match up well to Brunswick shells, but what your saying is paramount to me saying "Hey, Ebonite bought Track, so I am getting rid of all of my old Track stuff!"
Heck, it was the opposite. I started hording stuff made then! If that's how you feel about Brunswick, I think Steve still has some SA poured gems.
-

I agree! Think back to some of Mo and Phil legendary cores from the 90s - the 3D Offset and ceramicore come to mind - and add to that some of Big B's new and old covers (CFT, Activator +, PK18) and this will surely be an awesome partnership.
-
I don't quite have all the answers just yet. I do know that we will take over all of the existing lineup of balls but will not produce any more once they are sold. I have talked to Mo and am excited about using his patented core technology in the Top Shelf ball line. I think this partnership of great minds can offer products that will make the dorks like me say BAZINGA!
-
Glad to hear you chime in Nick, thinking this will be a really hot line with Big-b's backing.
-
The answers everyone are waiting for are coming. Safe to say, this is one of the finest "marriages" of ideas, products, and technologies in some time. Doesn't mean that a cure for cancer has been found or that it's now safe for cousins to marry, but great things are on the horizon.
-
MO+CARDINALE= Product Greatness. Can't wait to see what those minds have in store for us!!
-
Agreed. I'm waiting for the ball with feet that literally walks to the pocket.

You're about to have the option to have a ball literally RUN to the pocket. Good things come to those who wait.
-
This is going to be awesome. I'm a big fan of their products, as you can tell by my screen name.
-
Hard to disagree with anything that has been said. This is a great partnership with all combined. I am looking very forward to this being a reality and cannot wait for the releases!

This has to be one of the best deals in a long time. You have 2 of the best minds in the business with Phil + Mo teaming up. Then you have the proven and yet to be seen cores and covers going into a new lineup. This easily could become one of the best lines in the market.
-
holy crap im excited now that chosen to throw only brunswick that gives me 4 differnt options now...dv8,big b,mo-rich,now radical....cool likeing that new torrid
-
Still would have been cool if they had put the Elite core in there... But we don't know yet, now do we?
Also, with this merger, does Phil have to hand over the Soaker recipe to Big B?
-
I think he gets to choose a Brunswick cover but he can add his formula to it, a Soaker Brunswick cover...Mmmm.
-
Really? You guys are excited about this? I see this as a last ditch effort to make a buck. It's obvious Mo is slowing down and Phil hasn't made anything new just remakes of stuff that rolled good back in the day. But good luck on those who drill whatever they make.
-
Sounds like most if not all manufacturer's do this anyway. This just gives more options with coverstocks. I don't see anything wrong with it.

-
Slant core is new, no?
-
Hey Doom! I was on Brunswick's staff and had a difference in opinion about balls they were making and me matching up!! All in all I resigned and I've made a decision to not use anything, sell anything, or drill anything that's made at the Brunswick plant! That's my decision only and I won't promote them at my shop or bowling center! I have stuff made by EBI, Radical, Visionary, Lord Field, Motiv and they all make great stuff. Thanks for the input and I appreciate and respect your ideas and thoughts!! Just my $.02, Bruce
-
Getting back on point here, looks like the official announcement will be Monday.
I should get my sample of the Torrid Elite soon, I'll get some pics up.
-
As a longtime Mo Pinel supporter, I am really excited about radical bowling technologies. I can not wait for everyone to see what's coming.
-
I just got an email about the Torrid Elite. Here is a picture.
The Torrid Elite falls under our EZ USE category, meaning it will perform perfectly on your typical house shot during normal league or tournament play. Perfect for a wide range of conditions, the purple/blue/gold pearl Torrid Elite will certainly turn some heads. 3-Color, Blue/Purple/Gold Pearl 500 Siaair with Rough Buff. Strong symmetric core 2.48 - .047
-
You Guys have no idea how much fun this is going to be. 8)
-
Phil-
Please give us a little idea of this'fun' you're talking about!!
-
Oh you are going to have to wait a bit longer. But I will tell you the Toriid Elite has opened my eyes to a new resin base for the coverstock. "let the beatings begin"
That ball rolls really sweet....I'm like a kid in a candy store now!!!!!
-
I can't wait to get this beast.
-
Wasn't really crazy on the idea at first.....but it is growing on me. I like a lot of the overseas equipment because you get a nice/different match up of core/cover combos. This is kinda like that. Will have to try some of this stuff out for sure.
-
I am new to Brunswick staff but did get to throw some radical stuff before from a guy that works there. I really liked some of the stuff like the slant hd and hybrid and I bowl at a wood house and torrid is nice there. Def pumped and excited about this news.
-
there's another surprise coming with the Torrid Elite. . .stay tuned!
-
So what is this new surprise? I never heard of anything extra.
-
All I can say is that it is special. . .so I've been told. I don't even know exactly what it is. . .
-
I don't have a clue
-
What could it possibly be?
-
I was just told we can order the Elites. Where did you hear this nocarey?
-
What could it possibly be?
Over on BowlingChat.net Mo said,
" I can tell you that there will be two new balls coming in February and YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET!"

Yea I already knew that. They are releasing a Reliable line ball and a Top Shelf ball. So they will have one of each line to start which is awesome. I'll be ordering my Elites shortly so I can have them for my tourney in Springfield at end of January. Mo + Phil = AWESOME!!!
-
I was just told we can order the Elites. Where did you hear this nocarey?
I am so excited I could . .well let's just say the surprise better be special or I'l feel like an idiot for believing my source. They know I LOVE the Big B and I hope they aren't playing with me. Time will tell. . .
-
nothing new to report, still awaiting for my staff balls to show up ??????
-
Patience, grasshoppah'. Between the merger, lawyers, drill sheets, marketing, and distribution, these things take time. Rest assured that every measure is being done to get these on the market and in customer's hands as quickly as possible.
-
Hey Steve, when did you order yours? I put my order in today with Phil and just trying to Fisher if I will get by next week.
