That is the question.

With my new found fondness for Radical courtesy of the Torrid Affair, I am now re-pondering the fate of my erstwhile Times Up solid. Purchased it on the cheap at Buddies but basically let it sit around. A couple weeks ago I put it on the shelf at my local proshop as a quasi consignment. I say quasi because he doesn't charge a fee. Just let's you put a ball on the shelf.

But now having thrown the TA my interest is renewed so I ask the question, would the TU solid make for a decent complement? The box was damaged and my wife threw it out so I don't have the specs but I seem to recall it had a longish pin. For the life of me I can't figure out where the CG mark is. This wouldn't be a problem regardless since I have a longish span (like 5 3/8 I believe)

My thinking was I could even knock the surface down to 2000 or something instead of the OOB 4000. Lay it a little differently and it would cover a more broad spectrum between the two. Anyone have both and able to express an opinion? Any other thoughts on what I could do? Open to suggestions or opinions. Thanks.

The TU Solid was a medium to medium-heavy oil ball, depending on your release, when it came out. The TA is supposed to be for medium oil, but not only are the covers and cores completely different, the coverstock for the Time Up are from 900Global's supplier of resin, while the newer ones are from Brunswick's supplier of coverstocks. One is not better than the other, just different.

I've thrown a couple of the older Radicals and I suspect the TU and the TA will cover similar amounts of oil but with a different ball path.

I haven't thrown the torrid affair but did purchase the times up from buddies. I used Mo's double thumb layout. This piece for the $$ is awesome. I liked the fact that I wasn't out a ton if the layout didn't work out well. Was pleasently surprised.

Thanks for the replies. I pulled the ball off the shelf and, upon further review, noted that it actually had very short pin. Like 1.5 inches. Speaking with my driller, it was determined that the specs of this ball didn't match up so well with me considering my high track and long span. Very limiting for this specific ball apparently. So instead of trying to round off the corners of the square peg, I'm going to save my pennies for something else down the road.

In the mean time, still live my TA. And I have a used Brick for heavier. To close the book (I'm sure you're all dying to know), I emailed Phil and he thought, if drilled the same, these would be an effective 1-2 punch for medium to light conditions.
