Slant Hybrid
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:14:08 AM »
Can anyone compare this ball to one of Storm's hybrids like the Virtual Energy?  I'm anxious to give Radical a try and I love hybrids.  The Slant Hybrid looks great but I don't know what to expect.  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Ive never thrown a VE, but having seen a bunch of them, its much sharper than the Slant. Mine is very clean, lot of backend, but its more arcing than the VE.

Its definitely worth an opportunity to try the Slant Hybrid in terms of overall reaction compared to the Virtual Energy it's not as strong.  The ball is extremely smooth through the heads and when it hits the backend friction it transitions into a very smooth arc roll.  Definitely a ball you can move right with and play straight up the boards without it over reacting.

Thanks for the input.  I think I'll punch one up and give it a try.  I'm excited to see the new offerings this year since Mo Pinel has teamed up with Phil.

If you want to try something new of Mo's and Phils, you'd have to get the new Torrid Elite. The Slants are 900global covers and Phils cores. Still awesome equipment IMO. But if you want the Brunswick covers + new core, get the Elite. I just ordered 2 and can't wait for them to get here.

When the Torrid Elite gets in my hands i'll give you some input on how it rolls and to see the different dynamics that the Brunswick cover will bring over to our line of balls.  Definitely looking forward to throwing it.

Well, I just ordered my 16lb Slant Hybrid and am having it layed out 50x3.75x40.  Can't wait to roll this baby and see what Radical is all about.  I like the fact that this ball company is designed around the pro shop operators and the league bowler.  What finish does the hybrid come OOB?

I have my Slant HD sitting here waiting to be drilled. Thinking I am going to go with a 60x5x30 and see how hard it peels off the dry. Can't wait.

Did you ever pick up the Torrid you were talking about buying.I bought one a few weeks ago,it's much smoother than I was expecting.

I did get one, and just ordered a second from Steve. Trust me, that is a ball that you want to have a spare nib one of, because it's just that good. How did you get yours drilled? My Heat remake was drilled 80x5x35, and it was awesome on the house shots because of the way the ball reads the dry. Not real flippy, due to the low rg, but it reads the wet dry for me great. I know I am going to love my Torrids!

I'm not very well versed on layouts,I can tell you that the pin is about an inch above the bridge, and the cg is swung out about one and one half inches outside my ring finger.I am  actually very pleased with the reaction of the Torrid. It is much more predictable than the traditional skid/flip pearl reaction which I was expecting. I gave away a bunch of equipment recently, and I was considering either a Slant Hybrid, or a 900 Global War Eagle to go above the Torrid, any thoughts?

We're totally hijacking this thread!

Both will be stronger, with the WE being stronger at the breakpoint, where the Hybrid (from what I've seen) will be smoother than the WE. Depends on how much oil you run into.

I don't see a ton,and probably 90% of the time, the Torrid, or my Cyclones will be plenty of ball. However,I do like to be prepared just in case!(That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it! You're right,we did hijack this thread, sorry guys!

I really like this ball.  Smooth is the best word to describe it.  Easy through the heads starts up nicely in the midlane and doesn't overreact on the backends.
