Title: Which Radical?
Post by: Matt Fortney on August 28, 2013, 04:15:52 AM
Should I put on the shelf? I run a shop in a house with I would say heavy side of medium volume house shot. Pretty new synthetics, so there's not a huge natural backend with the shot. Thinking Reax Pearl, or maybe a Yeti, any insight? There are NONE in my area. Lmk. Thanks.

Matt

Honestly . . . You can't go wrong with any of the new stuff. Reax, Reax Pearl, Yeti and the Torrid Affair/Elite are all great balls. I have carried all of them and have been able to satisfy every style of bowler. The Senior/rev dominant  bowlers love the Elite/Affair. I personal love the Reax and Reax Pearl. I've sold several Yeti's as well. I think Radical has a fantastic line up. Everyone in my area who's stepped out of the "norm" (storm/EBI) has fell in love with it.

Alright, that being said, from someone who has seen them all...which one has got the shelf appeal to make people ask "what the heck is that?" (In a good way I mean lol)

Genuinely intrigued by them, and want to make sure my customers are aware...

Reax Pearl is a sharp looking ball...

Choose a ball that suits the majority in your house.  If you have a very dry shot, no sense in stocking the Reax since it is intended for heavy oil.  Personally, I would lean more to the Yeti or Torrids.  That way you can talk up the actual ball that bowler might use.  If you have a Reax on the shelf but continually push the lower end balls to clients, then the Reax is the wrong ball to have on the shelf.

But then again, perhaps you have enough bowlers of all types to justify carrying any ball from a manufacturer.  I would just hate to see a new ball company's ball on the shelf and then have you have to order a different one to suit my game.  May lean to another brand then.

The great thing about all the Radical line up is that they All handle surface adjustments great; abralon, polish, etc. As far as shelf appeal I would go in this order: the Reax Pearl has great color combinations that have some pop (not as loud like our sister company - DV8), the Torrid Elite has good shelf appeal also (brighter blue and purple), and the graphics on the Yeti set it appart (Bright yellow graphics on deep red and deep purple). Hope this helps.

Reax Pearl and the Torrids have the most shelf appeal! IMO. But some people absolutely love the solid black of the Reax. Take the Reax and polish it . . . And it's a "pretty" ball too. Biggest thing isn't what's pretty, but what would work best for your house and conditions your bowlers generally see.

Torrid Affair is an amazing all around ball.  For the heavy stuff, the Reax pearl is gonna be hard to beat.  i would start with those 2 for sure.  The shelf appeal on both these balls is amazing.

I got to see both in action last night.  Just as you guys say they have amazing color to them.  I was most excited to see the reax but at that house the torrid affair was the right ball on the lanes.
