You guys have done it, lol. After reading all the reviews of the Yeti Uncaged, I have broken down and ordered one. Now I just need to figure out how to drill it. My specs are: 18-19 MPH (per Quibeca), about 380-390 RPMS, Tilt 26 degs (more up the back than around the side), with a PAP of 4 11/16 over, 3/4 up.
What I am seeing is this. I have been throwing a Reax Pearl, and have had issues with carrying corner pins. Lots of solid 10's (with the 6 pin going right around the base of the 10 pin). Any move to the left, then I come in behind the head pin and see blower 7's and weak 10's. Any move right and I leave solid 9's. Last night I tried throwing the original Yeti and saw even more solid 10's then with the Reax Pearl.
So I am hoping I can drill the Uncaged to improve my carry percentage. I think the more pop on the backend the Uncaged has might be the ticket. What are your thoughts on the best drill pattern and surface prep to help me achieve this? Thanks for your help Radical nation.

What are the layouts on the other two balls? Remember that the diff on the Uncaged is .05. So you wont want to create even more flare than is already built into the ball. My first instinct is something like 65 x 5 x 35. With your PAP; that should put the pin above the bridge or close to it and the cg kicked out a little. If you need a weight hole, I would do P2 to help control the flare without loss of backend motion. I always like keeping the sum of the drilling angles around 100. That way the roll is not too early but not too skid flippy either. Leave the cover in box finish and then adjust if need to. Just my 2 cents.

We have an article on this topic on our web page. The balls are burning up. Go with drill patterns with the pin further from the Pap and use less surface. Pin unders reduce flare and store more energy.

Phil, would that also be your recommendation with the Untamed? Essentially, keep the ball as close to box finish as possible? No more than 3000 with an abralon pad?

I forgot to mention the Reax Pearl is at 4000 abralon by hand and the Yeti was in OOB finish. I don't have the drillings on those two off the top of my head, but I believe they are similar. With my speed my old driller, before I moved, used to try to keep my total angles under 100 usually.

The Uncaged is a very impressive piece! I used my favorite drill, 45 x 5-9/16 x 70, and my specs Right handed, 16mph @ cameras, 350 rpm, and my PAP 5.5"-> 1/8" ^.

I drilled my first Uncaged pin over and in between the fingers and kicked out to 45 degrees. The ball wiggled down lane and never recovered. I drilled two more with pin under and kicked to 45 degrees. The ball has never been more impressive. For me, the pin over layout just did not agree with my style and this ball.

Motion Hole Pin above ring finger and start off with 3/4 weight hole. You can always make the hole bigger if you want more POP. I always go 1 1/4 and never mess around with it. I want all that's due to me lol. ;D
