Well last night I had the chance to use my Def Con 2. With is drilled the same as my Def Con 1. A 4" by 4" stacked drilling. The lanes had heavy oil from 5 to 5 and outside of 5, from 1-5 was light oil. I stood on 20 and laid the ball down around 7 and gave the ball a couple of boards belly. I shoot 720 with it last night and they were tuff. When I pulled the shot, the ball didn't over react, it just held the line.

The shots I through good, would roll smooth and reaction consistent every time, no problems. The ball as amazing power through the pocket, throwing pins all over.

When I first hear about the Def Con 2, I thought it would have a shell similar to the El Nino 2000 (since Storm is making this ball) but the particle load isn't as high. The Def Con 2 probably won't be sitting on your local pro shop shelves but it is worth asking about.

On a Scale of 1-10, I would give this ball a solid 7. This ball will be great for when the lanes break down and you start to get the over/under condition. This ball smooth consistent roll is one of this ball's biggest assets.  People who like to go up the lane when the lanes dry out, this is a great ball.

The DefCon II I drilled out had the following pre-drill specs:

Gross weight: 15 lbs 6 oz
Top Weight: 3.46 oz
Pin Placement: 2 1/2 inches

I chose my favorite drilling to see wah tthe ball would do...4" stack leverage. This put the pin at 1:30 to my ring finger and about 1/2 inch away.post drill specs showed 3/4 side and 1/2 finger and a small hole located 5 1/2" right and 1" down from grip center.

Lane conditions and performance:
Shot#1...our house shot....oil to 32, buffed to 38, basic top hat shot, 1 day old backends. This ball had me a tad bit confused on this shot. Perhaps I had been anticipating more hook. This ball slid way further than I expected. It hooked about 5 boards less than my identically drilled Eraser. A slight shift with the feet and the ball got into the pocket and just destroyed pins. The carry is exceptional with this ball. high, light or flush this ball scattered pins everywhere.
Shot #2...league shot, another house....fresh backends with a christmas tree pattern of oil to 35 and buff to 43. I could play this ball very well if I kept it in the track area. I could not swing this ball, it never made it back.
Shot#3...open bowling shot, Saturday afternoons with no oiling that day and leftovers from the night before. Now this ball shined through. A solid heavy roll thru the pines and a nice smooth arc into the pocket. Was able to play a conservative swing of 12 to 5 while lining up about 20. I could go deeper but the ball seemed to finish harder with the 12-5 shot.

Overall a good ball for drier lane conditions or perhaps more oil if you turn the ball harder. The core is very dynamic but I don't think the coverstock kept up with the core.

Roto Grip Defcon 2

Bowler style: Cranker (med spd, high rev)
Lane: 35ft oil (single) buff back
Pin: 4" Pinout
Drill: 5 1/4" from PAP

I am always looking for balls that produces great length with strong backend. This ball does just that! It goes down the  lane with tremendous ease and then unleashes a really strong back end into the pocket.

On very oily lanes, you may not want to use this ball or change the drill pattern to increase your leverage. On med oil to dry, this ball is great. stong hitting power, easy to control.

It really suits my playing style and i rate it a 9/10.

This ball was given to me last night and it showed me.

This ball was made for length for sure .Throw long and it came rolling back
big time. The ball was drilled for a foreroller and Iam like a powerstroker
slash cranker.I was trying to find something to replace my red/blk monster and this ball pretty much did it for me.I dont know weres the cg on this ball yet.
This is my first roto piece and hopefully this will be the beginning Iam custom to roto any way.

This review is on the Roto Grip Def Con2. I am only 14 years old and have bowled awseme with this ball. I don't know alot of the specs but its 16 pounds, and drilled stacked. The first time I used it 247 game. It was medium to heavy oil and I was hooking it 20 boards throwing at 17Mph. The first time I used it in my league I bowled a 256 a 212 and 154 for a 626 series. The last game was horrible because the lanes were way to dry for the ball. And the last good 3 game series I bowled with it was the week after my 626. I threw a 246, 222 and a crap game. So this ball is a hook monster. I haven't used the ball recently because the place I'm bowling at put about 50 dings in it. So this ball I give a 11 out of 10. If you are looking for a good medium bowling ball get the Def con 2.

To add on to my previous reveiw!! I stopped using the ball after it was damaged. I never fixed it. But I used it today just how it was and WOW! It was the most disgusting oil on the lane ive ever had to bowl on. It might be that I changed something but the Def Con just was the hooking Mother Trucker today. I was hooking the whole lane. On a couple shots it was on the 1st board on the right and it still hit the pocket and got me a srike!!! The Def Con was outhooking my X-Factor and Fear Factor. Hard to beleive? I still am looking for another Def Con2 so I can have 2 of them. BEST BALL EVER MADE!!!
