Title: MVP Attitude
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on August 06, 2020, 09:11:13 AM
This Roto Grip MVP bowling ball has some attitude. The Roto Grip MVP Attitude Hybrid Reactive bowling ball uses the Neutron NXT core and the VTC-H20 Hybrid Reactive coverstock. With a higher RG and medium differential, the Neutron NXT core offers ample length as well as down lane motion for any bowling style. The coverstock formula creates more midlane traction without losing it's response to friction at the back of the lane. This ball is ideal for medium oil and was designed to clear the front of the lane while not skidding as much as it's pearl predecessor but still reacts well to friction.

Color: Golden Pearl/Violet Pearl/Purple Solid
All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown
Coverstock: VTC-H20 Hybrid Reactive
Core: Neutron NXT
Finish: 3000-grit
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium Oil
RG: 2.55 (15# ball)
Differential: 0.040 (15# ball)

There’s a new MVP in town and he’s got a huge Attitude. Introducing the newest addition to the Roto Grip MVP series, the MVP Attitude. The new MVP Attitude has the same MVP core, but wrapped in a VTC-H20 Hybrid reactive coverstock. What I see out of this new MVP is that it is the strongest and smoothest out of the MVP’s we have so far. This ball is fits perfectly right under the Wild Streak. When the wild streak becomes too strong to keep in front of you and doesn’t give you enough dowlane motion when you have to chase it left, the MVP Attitude is the ball to go to.
To compare it to the rest of the MVP line, you would start out with the new MVP Attitude on the fresh, then go straight into the original MVP and then when a player really needs to open up the lane, you go to the MVP Pearl. Really nice progression out of this series and if you want to be an MVP on the lanes, make sure you get the new MVP Attitude.

Roto Grip has added a dull finished hybrid to their MVP line of HP2 balls. The Neutron NXT core has been a great success, showcasing great motion and continuation consistently outperforming its price point. The VTC-H20 Hybrid cover and it's 3000 grit finish adds more mid-lane motion to the line, making it more useful on higher volumes of oil.

I tested the MVP Attitude on a house-shot on a fairly high-friction surface. It did coincide with the house adding a bit of volume to the pattern. The timing worked out to my advantage as I got my hands on the ball that fit perfectly into the spot i needed it. The added volume tended to show up down-lane as opposed to in the front of the lane as was intended. The fronts still hooked but it was easy for the ball to push too far down-lane to the right and not recover. The trick was getting the ball to see the mid-lane without overreacting so that you could start creating angle back to the pocket before reaching the out-of-bounds.

The MVP gives you the ball roll of a solid cover with the continuation of a hybrid. It is clean enough to play the track but continuous enough to play the transition. You don't really run into trouble with it until you have to get in and cover a lot of boards. Even then you can trick it by limiting angle and letting your hand around it a little more.

The MVP Attitude is the 3rd MVP in Roto’s HP2 line, and while it’s a hybrid like the original MVP, it’s quite a bit different on the lane.  The MVP was strong, heavy rolling, and really quick on friction.  The Attitude is rolly, but doesn’t feel like it wants to be quite as early despite the sanded cover, and blends the backend part of the lane very well.  It’s very continuous like the previous MVPs, and the shape and look on the lane is familiar, but for me it takes the idea of the original MVP and makes it more usable and effective.  Not as heavy rolling and relentlessly strong on friction, but still rolly, still continuous, and quite versatile.  It’s controlled enough to play straighter, and has enough wheels and continuation to not just play from deep, but be effective from deep.  The Attitude is a quite refined reaction, it’s good at blending cliffs on house patterns, and giving you controllable strength on tougher patterns.

Roto Grip’s HP2 Line of balls have been extremely popular through the bowling community. With last year introduction of the MVP and MVP Pearl the HP2 continued its success. This year we have the same Neutron NXT Core wrapped around the all-new VTC-H20 Hybrid cover, which is 2 parts pearl, and one part solid. I drilled mine 3 x 6 x 2.5.  I choose this layout because I wanted a symmetrical ball that I could keep my angles in front of me on the fresh on longer medium length patterns. My first impression after throwing this ball is that even with the 3 inch pin, this ball doesn’t really burn up. You can still see how much it response in the back part of the lane. It is closer to the MVP Pearl than the MVP reaction wise but picks up the lane about 2-3 feet sooner than the Pearl.

The new MVP Attitude brings you the Neutron NXT core with the VTC-H20 Hybrid Coverstock. What I like most about this ball is its dull surface while still being clean in the front part of the lane.  I drilled mine 4.5 x 70 which is pin down for me in order to combat fresh oil conditions on lower volume and older lane surfaces.  This ball allows me to play more up the lane on the fresh than other balls in the Roto Grip lineup have allowed me to.  This ball reminds me of the Winner Solid from a few years ago that is slightly earlier rolling and a little more continuous.  A pin up version of the attitude will allow you to open the lanes up more to be more versatile of a ball.  This ball has a lot of punch for its price so if you are looking to get this ball as your one ball for league, this is definitely a great choice!

Ball Layout: 45 x 4 x 30

Finish: 4000 – Lane shine

The motion of the previous MVP’s, I felt didn’t fit my game as I saw more chuggy and snap off the pattern motion.  HOWEVER, after previewing some videos of the MVP Attitude’s motion, I had to give it a shot……boy I’m super glad I did!!!!  Roto got this hybrid right with 2 parts pearl, 1 part solid, it completely reminds me of a stronger Wrecker, a ball I absolutely loved.  I put a 4” pin on it just above my ring finger and saw a very predictable motion with phenomenal carry.  As I moved in, the ball kept continuation and carry, will be great on medium conditions.  The more I got oil into the ball, the better it got as OOB was a bit strong for me but got better after 5th game with it.  Bottom line, this is may be my new benchmark ball that will be an absolute house shot killer!!!!  This is a lot of ball for the price that you cannot pass up!

Loved the MVP Pearl, but it wasn’t enough at times, and it was a little sharp on the backend.  The Attitude is the ANSWER!  The MVP Attitude is a good 3-4 feet earlier and much smoother at the breakpoint, but still plenty of backend.  I can see the MVP ‘Tude as the first ball out of the bag, and then the MVP Pearl as the go to in transition.  An amazing 1 – 2 combo!

Review: Incredible Bang for your buck! On the 3 oil patterns I was able to test this ball on (between 39’ and 43’ feet), I couldn’t believe the performance I got out of a ball at this price point. Plenty of hook even on the 43 foot pattern. Typically on a fresh house pattern, you encounter too much bounce off the dry and too much skid in the middle. I didn’t find any of that with this ball. It blended the fresh shot out amazingly well. The 2 part pearl, 1 part solid, allowed the ball to get through the first third of the lane easy, read the mids like it was supposed to, and finished really strong. It was very smooth and heavy rolling through the pins. This ball can be a first ball out of the bag for 75% of league bowlers. Paired with the MVP pearl, they would be a 1-2 punch that would be near impossible to beat. This is a killer ball for anyone looking for a benchmark type reaction without putting a huge dent in your wallet.

I was very excited for the MVP Attitude’s release because of how much I liked the MVP Pearl. To me, the Attitude picks up a couple feet sooner and covers more boards overall. I generally use the MVP Pearl once the lanes start to break down, but with the MVP Attitude, you don’t have to. You can use this ball on medium to heavy oil conditions as well as some lighter conditions. For me it is very versatile and allows me to play multiple angles on a variety of patterns. The control of this ball reminds me a lot of the Wild Streak which is one of my current favorites. This control gives you a predictable motion while still being strong through the pins.

I chose this layout is to give me a better look on medium  conditions to transition from my Idol Solid, which shares the same layout, I'm about 5 boards different overall but I get a very similar ball motion overall. The Idols being just a little earlier with the lower RG and higher diff.  The MVP brings much higher RG and lower differential giving me an awesome balance for medium conditions.

I went with this layout to help worth with this balls natural attributes with the VTC coverstock used on the Hustle PBR we saw better control. So I went with a medium pin down layout to replace my mvp solid from last year. I was looking for a ball to read the lanes a bit more in the mids and not give up in the oil but not be a boat anchor in the friction. In comes the MVP line, amazing hook potential for the price point and reliability I can trust on a wide variety of lane conditions.

MVP Attitude - 80 x 2 1/2 x 25 - 1500 grit pad - VTC-H20 hybrid reactive coverstock
Testing condition: 44ft Mo Pinel created THS on older SPL ( earlier 2000's).
What the leagues started up, I thought to drill this ball similar to my MVP that I used last year in the league. It was sanded to 2000 as I needed to slow up more in the front part of the lane. With the updated cover of VTC-H20 and the proven Neutron NXT core, this ball is actually stronger than my Wild Streak from the mid lane to the back end. Having the pin 2 1/2inches from my PAP kept the flare down and allowed a more consistent backend and roll on it. Did not jump off of the pattern like the OG MVP would even at 2000 grit. It has purple in the coverstock which even makes me happier! Will be a great benchmark ball like the IQ Tour Solid, or even the Idol!

The MVP Attitude is by far my favourite of the 3 from the hp2 line. Not taking anything away from the others, I just found that this matched up with my style the best. The attitude comes out of box at 3000 grit finish which has more grit then the original MVP or the MVP Pearl, it’s cover helps it get into a roll early through the front part of the lane and finish strong through the pins. I was pleasantly surprised with how strong this ball was with it being a “medium” end ball. If you’re looking for great performance and not looking to spend a fortune, the Attitude won’t disappoint, this ball is definitely the best bang for your buck.

I drilled my MVP ATTITUDE up 55 x 4.5 x 30. I left it box finish which is 3000 abralon. This is usually my go to lay out for most gear I drill up. This was highly recommended by my ball driller as he has drilled a couple for himself and likes them both. He said this one is a sleeper.

I used my MVP ATTITUDE on some house shots around 38-40 feet and also in a PBA50 Regional. I brought it out when the lanes started to get a little chopped up in the track and needed to get some push with good down lane motion. That is exactly what I got out of it.

I put my MVP ATTITUDE against some others like the ELECTRIFY PEARL and MVP PEARL. The MVP ATTITUDE is definitely earlier motion on the lane than both the ELECTRIFY AND MVP PEARLS. The MVP PEARL had more down lane shape, but the ATTITUDE had a good motion also.

The MVP ATTITUDE should be a good pick up for players looking for a ball that you can leave with a smoother dull surface (2000-4000 abr) on and get more length than the big cover balls like the AXIOM or RG UFO but still get good motion before you pull out the pearls or low diff balls like the IQ TOUR.

Layout: 60 x 1 ½” x 35

I drilled my MVP Attitude with one thing in mind: control and aggressive mid lane roll for fresh lanes with dry backends. A “control ball” was something that was missing from my arsenal, and this ball (with this layout) fills that need. I am able to keep my lines tight and “down & in” when the fronts are juicy and the backends are flying. Admittedly, the short pin layout does limit the versatility of the Attitude for me – it does not allow me to get left and open the lane up.  When the fronts start to hook, I switch to the MVP Pearl or Electrify Hybrid.

The MVP Attitude is the latest of the MVP line and to me is the best. The Attitude gives me great control down lane on medium oil patterns. What stands out most to me is the versatility. My Attitude is drilled with the pin under ring finger (4.5” to PAP) and with this layout gives me medium length and medium response. To me the Attitude reminds me of the Wild Streak but just a smaller piece.

Introducing Roto Grips newest addition to the MVP line, the MVP Attitude! The MVP Attitude features the VTC-H20 Hybrid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Neutron NXT Core. I am definitely a big fan of this ball! This ball reads the midlanes and, retains plenty of energy for the backends and, continues through the pins. I personally like to use this ball when I need something to get through the fronts cleanly and, isn't to jumpy off the spot

Review:
The Roto Grip MVP Attitude is really a fun ball to roll. The colors are vibrant which gives it a unique look going down the lane. The ball motion is well suited for medium conditions but this ball takes surface adjustments as good as any ball I have ever seen. You can have multiple looks by adding surface or smoothing out and adding polish. The MVP Attitude makes a sharp back end move that bowlers want to see and provides excellent carry. This may be the best preforming ball for the price point available right now. If you buy an Attitude you will get a lot of bang for the buck. We have drilled this ball for many styles with great success. We even had a senior lady shoot her first two 600 series in over a year within two weeks after buying this ball. I have already had some nice scores with this ball just rolling it here and there to see what it is capable of. The Attitude has impressed me with how I can get more or less hook than box with surface changes and alter the shape. The Attitude hooks a bit more than my Wild Streak and has more back end. I put the total hook of this ball between my Hustle PBR and Rubicon. I will put this ball up against higher priced balls any time for performance and score.

Summary:
The Attitude is a nice addition to the MVP Line.
The look of the ball is unique and eye catching.
The Attitude may be the best buy in bowling balls available.

The Roto Grip MVP Attitude is impressively strong ball at the HP2 line pricepoint.  It reads the lane very well, gets through the fronts clean, reads the midlane well and has a strong finish on the backend.  It allows me to use a lower end ball on the fresh. The MVP Attitude is the ball to use early then to switch to the MVP or MVP Pearl as they dry out. Hitting Power is great like every Roto Grip Ball.

Roto Grip MVP Attitude Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

The latest addition to the HP2 line at Roto Grip is the MVP Attitude.  After drilling the MVP pearl and having a lot of success with it, I was excited to see a solid version of the MVP be added.  The Attitude fits nicely in the line between the high performance balls that are typically used on fresh patterns and the Hustle series which is normally used when patterns blend out or there’s more friction on the lane.  The MVP Attitude can be a successful ball for all types of players.

I’ve drilled one Attitude so far and think it rolls great.  I mapped it out as 4.5 x 4 and I left the surface alone.  With an RG of 2.55 and a differential of 0.040, the Attitude digs hard in the mid-lane and has a slower response time compared to other balls such as the MVP pearl, Hustle RAP, and Axiom pearl.  I’ve had the most success with the Attitude when the lanes are a bit flatter and the high performance balls simply read the lane too early.

I’ve seen all styles and rev-rates have success with the MVP Attitude.  If you feel like you have a gap between your UFO, Axiom, and Hustle RAP, the MVP Attitude should be the next ball you drill.

This MVP really reads the midlane for me as good as anything I have in the bag. The combination of the midlane and a little slower response then the rest of my arsenal gives me an option I really didn't have. Even with those characteristics the carry is as good as any other ball I have.

Roto Grip MVP Attitude

Cover: VTC-H20 Hybrid

Core: Neutron NXT

Roto Grip has some of the best balls for the price and the MVP Attitude may be the most ball for the price.

The 3rd ball in the MVP line and easily the strongest of the group.

It is listed as an HP2 ball but if you didn't know it you wouldn't believe it. This is the strongest HP2 ball I have thrown.

This ball revs slow, reads midlane, and brings a smooth/strong turn with a lot of power behind it.

It reminds me of the Storm Super Soniq, a favorite of mine.

Add the MVP Attitude to the Hustle PBR and you have a great house shot 1-2 punch at a great price.

Roto Grip's history of fun per dollar success continues with the MVP Attitude! With an updated version of the original MVP's cover, the MVP Attitude changes things up a bit as well with a 3000-grit factory sanded surface. The familiar Neutron NXT core from the MVP and MVP Pearl makes its return though, which brings a ton of familiarity in how the ball responds downlane. If you want something with a bit more traction and blend than an MVP or MVP Pearl... this ball is for you! If you want something that'll roll heavier through the pins but provide a similar level of strength to an !Q Tour Solid... this ball is for you! If you want to only bring one ball to league and just have some fun bowling... this ball is for you!

The MVP Attitude is a  hybrid release in the HP2 line of balls from Roto Grip. The Attitude uses the same Neutron NXT weight block that was in the previous two MVP releases which yields an Rg of 2.55 and a differential of 0.040 in 15lb balls. This version has a stronger cover than the previous two MVPs, called VTC-H20 and comes from the factory with 3000 grit abralon finish. The color combination of golden pearl, violet pearl, and purple solid makes for a two parts pearl to one part solid cover.

I drilled the MVP Attitude with a 4.5” pin and a 2.5” pin buffer. Comparing the Attitude to my original MVP (4.5 X 2), the Attitude hooks earlier and has more backend continuation. The more aggressive cover and box finish of the Attitude allows it to handle more oil than the first MVP (polished cover and also a hybrid). Comparing the Attitude to my MVP pearl (5 X 2), the Attitude slows down quicker, has a more rounded shape through the backend. The little longer pin buffer seems to allow the Attitude to not spin up too fast, which rounds off the shape downlane and creates more continuation. The cover on the Attitude is fairly aggressive for a lower price point ball. Even with the factory surface of 3000 grit, the Attitude doesn’t slow down too soon, allowing for downlane change of direction. I have kept the surface finish at around the same matte finish that the 3000 abralon box finish produces.

The MVP Attitude is a ball that can give the user some decent board coverage without breaking the bank on a high end ball. I like how the Attitude fits in the bag. It is a ball that I can move left if I need more dry boards to get it to slow down, or can chase the pattern in, and still get the ball to corner and face up toward the pocket. The MVP Attitude has a nice amount of pattern coverage, which is something that I look for when filling in my arsenal. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of the MVP Attitude. As always with Roto Grip, OWN IT!

MVP Attitude from RotoGrip. I bought this ball to pair with my MVP Pearl. Layout 4x4x2 on both balls. The MVP Attitude was created to be an earlier version of the already popular and successful MVP line of balls. I could start the night with the Attitude and when it would get to be too much I could step down to the Pearl very easily. The MVP Attitude is one of the best bang for the buck balls out there as RotoGrip has released another budget friendly ball with a ton of hook.

The MVP Attitude is a hybrid release in the HP2 line of balls from Roto Grip. Loving the MVP pearl i decided to give this a try. Boy do i love the shape of this ball. The pear was super angular for me down lane and at times over under. The attitude is a little sooner for me and controlled which is a nice compliment to the pearl. This ball will fit in great to any bag as fill for a reliable predictable when things are getting tough. Considering the price range its a easy choice

New Roto Grip RST X-1
Review by Dunk300 on 27 Nov 2020review stating New Roto Grip RST X-1Roto Grip RST X-1
Layout: 4.5 X 4 X 2.5 Storm Vector Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation
Testing Information: 41-foot THS (medium volume)
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

Well, I wasn’t exactly excited about purchasing this one based on some of the early reviews that I saw if I am Read more about review stating New Roto Grip RST X-1going to be completely honest. However, there was something about the nostalgic appeal of the Roto Star Tour X-1 bowling ball that captured my attention. I remember being a kid at Mexico Lanes and not very many people owned a Roto Grip ball. They were almost thought of as that other ball company. Not a part of the big machine of Brunswick, AMF, or Columbia. This fact always intrigued me about the early Roto Grip bowling balls since I never owned one. Fast forward 30 years, now I have my chance to see what the mystery was all about.

The Roto Grip RST X-1 utilizes the MicroTrax hybrid reactive coverstock and the new RST core. The specifications are middle of the road so has the potential to be a very versatile ball (right in my wheel house). Based on the previous videos I mentioned above, I decided to shine the RST X-1. I found the secret sauce for me. The RST X-1 was clean through the fronts and a noticeable change of direction on the back end. Maybe a pinch less snap than my Storm AstroPhysix. The distance between the oil rings was standard so no differences there. I was able to take hand out and play right on the oil line. I was also able to move in a zone and slow hook it. The carry was good from both places on the lane. Hence, the versatility is definitely a strength of the RST X-1. The shelf appeal is not going to jump off the shelf to the novice bowler but there is beauty in this ball. In addition, there are many of us that like the look of a solid ball going down the lane (lack of revs might be part of the reason but not all of it. Lol). I hope this ball doesn’t get lost in the new releases with brighter colors. This is going to be my sleeper pick for the next 6-month period (as the Wildstreak was and is). Schlem should be proud of this one as he brought the nostalgia feel of the Roto Star Tour brand back. Great job!
