As the sun falls below the horizon we look to the stars for direction. Let Roto Grip® show you the way with the all new RS-Xtm. This all new mid-priced release combines classic looks with superior performance to deliver what will be one of the best balls on the market today!

Once again we have stepped to the forefront with the introduction of the "all-new" Sure Grip Extremetm reactive coverstock. INCREDIBLE.  Drilled 5 1/2 inch pin with pin center of palm with cg 45 degrees from span center line.  CG is even with thumb.  Extra hole drilled with 1 1/8 bit 3 inches deep 1 inch up from mid plane on line from center of span through CG.  Axis coordinates are 5 1/2 & 1/2 up.  Ball is a little earlier than RS-1 due to solid cover and revs up quick off the hand.  Even though the ball does rev up early it does not lose energy at the pins .  The new coverstock material on this and the Vision is absolutely fantastic.  This ball does nothing but smash the pins.  Another great addition to the Roto-Grip line.  Already looking forward to drilling another one a bit stronger.

The BTM just came out with their Reader's choice award for bowling balls.  I was shocked to see Roto Grip missing from the list.  If you want an immediate advantage over your competition your missing out.  Roto Grip continues to make exceptional equipment, and the RS-X definitely fits as best in breed.

This mid line monster creates a nice footprint on the lane, similar to the Oracle Vision which one could argue as a best ball ever.  A little stronger in the mids than the vision with a strong back end.  However this ball carry's better than any ball I've seen.  I watched Roto Grip Staffer Chuck Groat shoot back to back 800's with his right out of the box.  846, 816.  With 2 other staffers also shooting 800 within a day of release.  I couldn't wait to throw mine.  I didn't quite shoot 8, but I'll take 740 any day.

It will be interesting to see if the readers of BTM catch on next year.

Thanks again Roto Grip

I drilled my RS-x up over the weekend and threw it on monday. All i can say is AWSOME!!!.  I drilled this ball with the pin at 4 inches just slightly above my fingers with the mass bias strong. This pattern works out to be roughly 4x3 for me. As this ball had a lot of top weight I drilled a 1 1/8 inch hole 3 inches deep on my VAL  1/2 in dowl from my axis. I threw it after league but on a pair that had very little use. This ball revved up quick, read the midlane, turned up and left kindling in the back. I threw it against 2 different RS-1's and an Ace and this ball was an easy 4 boards more with my feet on the lane than the ace and about 6  compared to my strongest RS-1.  I have already ordered a second one for myself and will be drilling 3 or 4  more next week for others after they saw how well it reacted. Another WINNER  from Roto!!!!

Ball specs – 15 lbs 1 oz, 3.42 top weight, 2.5 inch pin.

Drilled this little beauty 4.5” X 90 degrees, pin below ring finger and mass bias just right of the thumbhole.

What a great compliment to the pearl RS-1.  The RS-X is earlier (solid verses pearl and different coverstock formula), a little stronger and covers more boards than the RS-1.  This sphere really slaps the pins around and the carry is about as good as it gets.  Even shots that were missed slightly at the bottom of the swing carried much better than expected.  The RS-X and RS-1 make a great one, two arsenal combination for medium to medium-heavy patterns.

Another great lineup addition by Roto Grip.  Get yours now as this one is going to be a big seller.

Wow does this ball covers some boards and shreds the rack!!!!! I drilled mine Monday with the pin 4in from pap and cg kicked out to 45 degrees and the weight hole 2 in beyond my pap. When I first threw the ball it was a little too snappy for me so I adjusted the coverstock to 800 grit and hit it with some 3m rubbing compound. I threw the ball tonight for about 12 games and the 1st 8 games I averaged 222 and the next 4 I averaged 237. I also have an Oracle Vision drilled 4 x 4 an I would say this ball is easily 5 to 7 boards stronger. I would highly recommend this ball to anyone looking for a strong reactive. Roto Grip... Drilled this beauty with the pin under the ring and the cg 1" below the midline @45 degrees to the right. the wt hole is 6" from grip center at 7/8 size and 1.5" deep. I compared this ball to a polished absolute and vertigo with the same layouts. This ball reacted more aggressively than the absolute with a board to two more total hook. The hitting power was very strong. Compared to the vertigo it was more angular and hooked the same amount. All 3 revved very quickly and carried well, but they had some differences. The absolute carried better when pulled slightly into the oil where the vertigo and rs-x went a little too long. when missing right the rs-x and vertigo both responded stronger off the dry boards than did the absolute. This test was on a broken down sport shot playing 7 out to a breakpoint of 2-3 at about 35-40 feet. All in all the rs-x was very angular and hooked and carried similarly to these other balls yet costs considereably less.A very welcome addition the an already strong roto line......futher testing with surface adjustments and its ability to read oil transitions will follow.

The first thing you notice is the look of this ball --great color combination of black/burgundy gives it very good shelf appeal---I have several people per day walk in to my pro shop just because they saw this ball through the window.  The best part though is the performance---this ball is truly a high performance ball --don't let the price dissuade you.  This is the best coverstock/core combination yet from RotoGrip.  The coverstocks they are using on the new balls is just awesome.  I drilled one RS-X about 5x4 with pin on grip line under fingers, CG swung out with a wt. hole 1 1/2" under my axis. This ball gives me a RXN I have not had with a ball in a long time.  It's easy through the heads, kind of a floater through the midlane while revving hard the whole time, and then a real nice hard sweeping move on the backend.  Hitting power is excellent, carry seems to be very good (knocks out the half-tens with ease).  Used a combination of this ball and an Apocalypse to finish 2nd at the PBA Regional in San Antonio.  Tyler Jensen used the same ball with a similar layout most of the weekend to win the title there. (His first-Congrats on the win---it was a good Roto-Grip weekend!)
Anyone looking for an aggressive reactive will enjoy this ball.

Another Great looking ball from Roto-Grip. Thanks to Roger and Hank for another awesome piece to add to the arsenal.
I drilled mine just like my Resurection, pin under the ring finger 4 1/2" by 3 7/8" with the CG under the mid-line, extra hole  6 inches back to 1/4 positive.
On a 39 foot house pattern, wow did this ball open the lane up.  I found that the ball was about 4 boards stronger than the Resurreciton, almost all on the backends.  The RS-X started it's mid-lane roll about three feet sooner than my RS-1's, but still gave the big kick on the backend and was continuous, no roll-out.
On a Sport condition (43 feet flat), the layout I had was a little too skittish for the condition, but a calmer layout would work well on that pattern.
The RS-X played very well on the ABC Tournament shot in doubles and singles.  Of course, the user wasn't smart enough to try the ball until the middle of the second game of doubles.  Saved my doubles set after a 150 start and in singles shot 677 with the RS-X and felt it could have been more.  The ball read the break point perfectly and almost was hitting too hard(a few 8's and 9's pin didn't help the score).  Was in around 45 with the feet and 25 at the arrows and still had plenty of power down the lane.
If your looking for a little more punch than your Resurrection, stop by your local pro shop and tell them to get you an
RS-X NOW!!!

I had a great feeling about this ball when i seen it coming out.
This ball goes down 3 to 4 more feet than the black silver streak and comes in much harder and sharper .This ball reads the front and the mid-lane so clean i could not believe it . It reminds of the silver streak line but it more aggressive in which it would help anybody game .This ball flares alot .I drilled mine 4 x 2 drilledand kick out the cg out 1/2 i did not need a wt hole and have to most of the time, so i can control it but on this ball i  did not need one for this ball. Since i had this ball in my hand i had 2 honor score in 3 weeks in my 2 leagues that i bowl in 290 AND 300 . I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BALL TO ANYBODY.

Drilling: High pin 45 deg angle from my ring finger, with CG very close to my axis.  Something a little different than what I have in my bag.

What a great reacting ball.  Very smooth through the midlane, and still a strong reaction on the backend.  I bowled in a tournament this past weekend, and I had 7 guys ask what ball I was throwing.  Such a smooth rolling ball with a great look to it.  The carry is incredible.  I have only had to shoot at a few 10 pins.  This ball kicks out the 10’s differently than any other ball.  For the price, you cannot compete with the Roto Grip RSX.  The best midpriced ball I have seen in a long time, if not the best midpriced ball ever.

honestly when i got the ball ordered, i had heard nothing about it and done no research on its reaction. but i did know it was called RS-X, i drive an RSX, so i had to get one. upon my research i found that it was supposed to be a big hooker, and if the lanes were broke down at all i wouldnt be able to throw it. that would be exactly what i didn't need. had it drilled pin over ring finger, CG in middle of grip, 3 3/8 oz top i think. this ball, is extremely tame, it does exactly the opposite of what everyone told me it would do. i heard all of this 'extreme backend' crap, its got some turn, but nothing extreme by any means. i would compare this ball close to the Hex-Plosion

First, I have to say thanks to Hank with Roto-grip for comping this ball.  He stopped by my proshop to go over the 2005 line of balls, etc.  I really didn't expect him to ship me the ball (which I thought was going to be the latest Sonic X).  I went on a break (at my day job) with a coworker and she went to go check the mail, and I saw a box on top of the mail basket and was like ,"what the hell is that? It looks like a bowling ball!"  I openened it up and there inside was a RSX. WOW!

So I finally had time to drill it up last night.
The predrill stats were 15.1 lb 4 oz TW 3" pin.

Layout:
Pin to PAP about 4 7/8" and slightly right and below the ring finger
MB in the 2 (Strong) Position
CG kicked out about 1 1/2"
No balance hole yet.

Check out my profile to get an idea of my style etc.
Ball clears the heads very nice, probably a little too much for a solid ball.
I will probably go back over the ball with 600 and then repolish it to make it a little more predictable or hit it with 1200 and leave it.

Ball motion is very nice.  This is exactly what I was looking for in my lineup.  Everything else was either a typical brunswick roll or just too weak.
The backend was a little too sharp I left a few 9-pins because the ball was driving flush into the 8-pin.

After adding a piece of tape, I had 10 in a row then a lane breakdown and the streak ended.  This ball opens up the lane like I needed.

Here is my current arsenal:
(1*) Medium Load Particle, Pin Axis Layout (Undrilled)
(1) Ultimate Inferno #2 600 Grit Pin below ring finger, ~2 1/2" from PAP
(2) Impulse Zone 800 Grit/Tracked Pin above Bridge, ~5 1/2" form PAP
(3) Ultimate Inferno #1, Tracked, Polished, Label Drill, ~4" from PAP
(4) High Rev, Box Finish, Stacked Leverage, ~3 1/2" from PAP
(5) RSX, Box Finish, CG Leverage, ~4 7/8" from PAP
(6) Uranium #2, 600 Polished, Pin above Ring, ~5" from PAP
(7) Panic, 600 Polished, Label, ~4" from PAP
(8) Ice, 1200 Polished, Pin above bridge, CG in Palm
(9) XCel Pearl, 1500 Polished, Pin above Bridge CG in Palm
(10) Hot Rod Hybrid (UndrilleD)
(11) 3 Piece Ball (Undrilled)
(12) Blue Dot

I am so impressed with this product that I will promote this as my June Ball of the Month special.  Alot of bowlers are going to be impressed when they see me score with this beast!

Thanks again Hank and Tyler!

UPDATE:

I took this ball to the Sandhills Matchgames in Omaha, NE.  The pattern is a flat, gutter to gutter, shot.  I almost didn't take this ball because I thought it had too much length.  The strength in this ball on this pattern is that I was able to play the track area(farther right) and get an awesome backend reaction.  I probably had the best look of my squad, which I led.  I haven't been bowling good lately, but I was able to go more direct than everyone else.

I didn't do so hot during the round robin finals and finished 8th.  I netted $300 on the weekend after Hotel, Gas, Food, etc.

Thanks again Rotogrip!

Ball was 15#4oz.   4.5" pin and 1.75 oz. TW

Pin in center of grip, cg 1.5" above outer edge of ring finger.  Balance hole on the cg to 3/4 finger.    Black Magic polish over the box finish.

Ball revs fast off the hand, holds the revs well and hit seems to be above average.   Trajectory is a shallow arc.    This drill lets me play most conditions and fits my "straighter is greater" game.   For the price probably one of the best out right now.

Release is  from around 5PM.  Get too far behind this drill and it will thump

i just drilled an RS-X and all i have to say is WOW. that ball is one of the most aggressive roto-grip balls i have even thrown. i drilled it out with a 4" pin the CG kicked out a half inch with a balance hole 3" from the CG. i bowled on a night after a youth league (a lot of carry down). the solid coverstock made the ball have a consistent roll with a predicatble breakpoint. i was throwing 17 out to 8 and the ball would recover with no problem. it is the strongest most predictable roto-grip ball i have thrown. it didnt want to jump when it hit the dry part of the lane and it could recover in the oil. out of 10 i would have to rate this ball an 11. this is my go to ball on heavy oil!

Great job roto-grip!

Ball Weight:15lbs
Arrow played: 3rd arrow

This ball is great for almost any conditions, its my new benchmark ball and the first ball out of the bag.  I can throw it out to the 3rd or 4th arrow if I miss my mark and always have it snap back to the pocket with a crash.  This ball just crushed the pocket.  It hooks very similar to the Vertigo but a little bit more snappier.  I would recomend this ball to just about anyone with a good amount of revs and med-fast ball speed.
This was also my first Rotogrip ball and I will buy more of rotogrips balls and maybe another RSX and drill it with the pin next to the ring finger.

I use the RSx as my heavy oil ball, sanded to 400 and then polished, very controllable and easy to work with, predictable ball.

only down side.. its UGLY.. but hey... maybe its uglyness helps knock the pins down!

Drilled with pin 5" from PAP, cg 4" from CG. Ball reacts a little sooner than R/S 1 without loosing backend reaction. I really like this ball when there is OB right due to the fact that it wants to react before it get to the OB. I also have scuffed it at times and then I can play the OB such as I did at the Highroller. Keep in mind I'm not an animal with my release so I can use a little surface. This ball seems very versatile with just a small change in surface. Should work with all styles of bowlers.

Drilled this ball a few months ago as a replacement for my V2 Sanded since the numbers were pretty close.  Drilled a 5 x 3 with a hole on my axis (5 3/8 out 1/2 down) and stayed with the box finish.  For me, this ball is a little longer with more contiuation than a polished V2 and a little sharper off the spot.  This is an outstanding benchmark ball because it reads the mid-lane so well and the cover is very versital.  So far, I probably have about 50 games on this ball and the cover is holding up pretty well.  Just like the V2, this ball isn't flashy and will probably be overlooked by most, but this is an excellent ball at a very reasonable price.

Like most of the posters, this ball was very smooth indeed.  Transitions to the hole a lil sooner than my RS-1 with the same layout(label weight).  To my surprise the RS-X doesn't show much tendancy at all to burn up when the lanes are breaking down.  It compements the RS-1 almost too well.  I'll look forward to maybe putting just a hair more surface to test the limits of the RS-X as Ron seems to like his that way.  Thanks again Bugsy, Roger, Hank!!

Bought this one in a 14# also. This ball is a wonderful ball to get a read on the lanes. On oil it is easy to find where to put it but when the middle goes toast it will jump the midlane. That's when I go to my Mercury . These two ball compliment each other very well. If you want length these are the ball you want. I even put some extender polish on the RS-X and it goes even longer. God I love length, But they both do hit hard when smell the hole. I will go Roto Grip till I die or until they stop making them!

The RS-X is smooth, smooth, smooth.

Unfortunately, don't remember the layout, but was fortunate to have Hank B. pick the layout for it at one of the '5 points to better bowling' get-togethers.

I'm a stroker, around 15mph, like to stand around 20 and swing out to around 7.

The ball reads the lane great, very predictable and easy to control, which is great considering the huge backend I get out of it. It goes fairly long, then makes a strong arc while it drives into the pocket.

The league I'm throwing it in lays out three patterns (don't know what they are), and on two of the three I've got about 10 boards of slop with this ball... swing it wide, it crushes its way back to the pocket; swing it inside and it cuts the hook down just right.

The third pattern is a little jumpy on the backend, so I've got a little less slop, but it still hammers the pocket if I keep my accuracy up.  Perhaps if I could shave about 3 boards off the hook it would be perfect for that condition too.  Even with the jumpyness on the pattern, I've never seen it run out of gas at the backend.

Great job, Roto Guys!

I liked my first RSX so much I had to get a second one. The first ball I drilled 4 x2 1/2 . This new RSX had a shorter pin placement so I had this one drilled 3 x2 . Move at the breakpoint is earlier with contiuation through the pit. This is the best ball so far that Roto Grip has produced , but then I have yet to throw the RSP. I had the ball drilled Moday evening and played around with the surface a little, grey scotchbrite and 3m rubbing compound and then used this ball Thursday in league for 256, 246 and 223. Great Job Roto Grip!!!!

I punched this ball up about a week ago and have finally been able to see its true potential. Mine is drilled with the pin over the middle finger, cg kicked out about 5 to 10 degrees toward the negative axis point, weight hole on the negative axis point, pin about 2.5 out. The shots I have thrown this on is a second shift very walled up (about 3 units on the outside, about 35 in the middle) AMF HPL's (synthetics). And a first shift walled up (about 3 units on the outside, about 45 in the middle) old wood lanes. On both shots the ball seems to act pretty much the same. It skids through the heads relatively quickly, makes a quick transition, and holds line. On the backend, the ball generates lots of energy and appears to make the pins run out of the way of the ball and into the pit. After, learning that I can be smooth and rip the cover off this ball, on the wood shot, I went 218, 266, 279 for a 763 set. The only time the ball didn't care was when I got the ball inside too much and didn't follow through properly. Finally, for those that are wondering on the line I was using...well I was standing on 30, opening my shoulders toward the break point, using the 4 pin for a break point, and using a release that put my thumb straight up.

After seeing this ball in action by a pro-shop worker buddy, I thought this ball would fit where I needed it to. And it did with flying colors.  I was looking for something to be first out of the bag over the X-Factor, simply becaue my X-Factor got a little to long for my liking. The RS-X worked wonderfuly. I had this ball drilled up to pick up the mid lane a little earlier so my speed wouldn't affect ball as I wanted it. I have not done anything to the surface of the ball other then clean it. When I threw it the first time all I said was...WOW!! After throwing my original till it died, and now the replacement on a verity of lanes, this is indeed a versitile ball. I am most glad with my choice on getting this over the other sugestions given to me.  On league nights, I generaly stand at 25 (one dot left of the center dot) and swing from 15-7 or so, with obvious tweaks as needed, and I'm suprised the pins don't just run away.  This is a great ball to add to any bag.

I've had this ball for 6 months now, absolutely LOVE it!.  Both leagues I bowl on have freshly oiled heavy medium THS on Brunswick ProAnvilane.  I'm a 15mph stroker, with a 45'release.  Drilled with a 4" Pin to PAP with the MB in the weak position, haven't altered the surface.
This baby revs up real nice in the midlane, holds just a bit then takes a strong arcing turn to the pocket.  Carry is real nice.  If I get fast with my feet or miss right I'll leave some 10s.  But, no ball is gonna change that.
Up until a couple of weeks ago it's the only ball I had thrown in each league, and my still increasing average will keep it the first ball out. I love the power and the predictibility.

Main Bowling Alley: The New Danville Bowl (Danville, California)
Games on Ball: About 20
Lane Type: Synthetic
Oil Patttern: Medium viscosity 38 ft. Christmas Tree Pattern with OOB outside of 7 board (open play bowled on my lane before me)

How the ball reacted:
I first tried this ball OOB and it was a little too long and not quite strong enough for where I wanted to place it in my arsenal. OOB it would be perfect for medium-medium/heavy oil. I wanted it a TOUCH stronger. So I then tried hitting it with 1000 grit and a nice coat of Clean 'N Sheen (compound finish) and it worked like a charm! The RS-X now rolls about two feet sooner and is a little smoother at the breakpoint. It now works exactly how I want it to, and fills my medium/heavy spot in the bag really well! The RS-X reminds me of what a highly polished UI/Strike Zone might react like.

Reaction Shape: Decent length with a nice arc.

The RS-X will hook, but not out of the house. Great for medium/heavy oil!
7.5/10

Control:
This ball is one of the most controllable balls I own. The solid resin coverstock smooths out the wet/dry pretty well. I love how it's not really jumpy off of the dry boards .
8.5/10

Hit:
This ball hits really well! If the heads are gone, watch out for the corner pins due to the natural "rolly" characteristic of the RS-X.
9/10

Versatility:
Very versatile, with a simple coverstock change, you could cover almost everything but the extremes!
9/10

Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Let me know if you have any questions about the ball .

This ball is a great ball for all condition I have mine set with the pin above the ring finger with a weight hole it's set up to go long and finish strong.I  bowl on a easy pattern what we call the christmas tree because with heavy oil in the middle and the outside dry it can't get any better for bowlers.Still if you want to carry you need the right ball.I bowl my first 3 games shot 775 and after I bowl in a other bowling center where the carry is tougher but the condition are still fairly easy if you keep moving PS: every 4 frames. My average is 17 pins lower there only 213 but I use the rsx for 2 night and on those 2 I average 240 and I'm high average at that house. The ball hits very strong playing inside or outside.I bowl a tournament on the weekend I use the Saturn mostly but when I  move inside I wasn't getting enough back end reaction so I switch to the rsx and on my first game ever with it in a tournament I bowl a perfect game it was the only one of the tournament it wasn't easy there was not much hold in the middle and speed was critical the best part is I had enough confidence to trust that ball even tought I did not have many games bowl with it.I was 50 pins down on the match 2 game total pin fall and came back to win now that is a great feeling to see a ball carry even on a sport shot.this ball can create a lot of room for error if you are the type of bowler who look at a area and crank the ball fairly hard you will love this ball I'm more of a stroker but if I want some time I can hit it more and change my hand position and the ball those what you expect it will go longer and hit harder. When you play with hand position hand the ball does what you want you know you have a great ball.My favorite ball in my bag.

I have been pleased with Roto Grip equipment over the last six months. I was hesitant to use any pieces because I really knew nothing about them. The RSX has not been a medium to oily piece for me, but when the heads are burnt and the hold on the out side is minimal, this ball works wonders. This ball can get through any of the chopped up crap any center's lanes can deteriorate to.  Great ball.

Profile:  LEft handed power tweener

Specs:  15lb 3oz top 2-3 pin

Drilling:  pin under ring cg kicked and inch left of pin location

Lanes used on:  Mixture of wood and synthetic  all diffent conditions

Review:  I have used this nice piece on a variety of conditions.  I mainly use it for med to med heavy more on med heavy side  Havent really used much since the purchase of my second epic battle that i polished!!  This ball needs head oil to get down the lane and then has a nice strong arc type finish with above average hit and carry keeps pins very low, not quite as low as the mercury but low enough to carry majority of time.  The only time I put this ball up is when the heads break down other wise it wants to move early and loses all its energy.  But there are other balls for that.  OVer all this ball is great piece of equipment at an affordable price.  give it a solid 8 of 10.  Keep up the great pieces ROTO!!

Speed: 16-17 MPH
Revs: 350+
Axis tilt: 20-25 Deg
Axis rotation: Approx. 30 deg
Desription:
Weight (Pre-drill)  15 and change
Top weight (Pre-drill)
Pin to CG distance  3”
Surface prep  1000 Grit Polished
Drilling
Pin to PAP distance 5” Pin to grip center distance  4” from GC  Pin above bridge
Balance hole location, size, and depth. No Balance Hole                                                                           MB is next to the thumb in the strong position

Condition used was PBA TOC(50Ft) and THS(38Ft)
TOC Lane condition was synthetics(AMF).
The RSX worked really well and gave a nice flip reaction once it reached the dry. It opened up the lane a little giving me some area to play with.
THS is AMF synthetic conditions are med oil for our areas THS
This ball was very strong and was too angular at the break point with this drill on a THS for myself.

Line being played
TOC 25/ 12 @ 50-52ft                                                                                                   THS 25/5 @ 42 ft on fresh

Overall Thoughts
This ball is great for use on med to heavy oil pattern with good length as long as the surface is right. The RSX has a god skid/snap ability with a little polish and has good carry if used on the right condition.
Compared to the AMB Centaur Solid with the same drilling This ball is stronger at the break but has a little bit less control. For me it is about 3 boards stronger then the AMB.
