Roto Grip® delivers more "bang for the buck" than any company on the market, and the all-new Saturntm is no exception.

This entry-mid price ball is propelled by the Orbitertm core. The High RG/Low Differential core has proven to be far superior in performance than the competition by giving you dependable mid-lane read along with consistent backend reaction shot after shot on those medium to lighter patterns.

Traction is the key and Sure Grip IItm solid coverstock once again is the finishing touch on the Saturntm. This milder blend solid reactive gives you smoother transition from the oil to the dry for increased control and predictability. It can also be easily adjusted with the use of polishes and scotch-brite pads.

For the couple of Saturn’s that are in our area, the results have been very good so far.  This cover reads the midlane quicker than all other entry level balls in the RG line, or any other for that matter.  Drilled strong, this ball can cover quite a few boards going left to right.  This is the perfect compliment to bridge the gap between the RSX and Mercury.  Despite the same core, this ball is easily 6 with the feet and 3 on the lane stronger than the Merc..

At $120, this ball is the best value in price for hook in the entry level market.

I have mine drilled negative cross label (pin high in negative finger quadrant and cg low in positive thumb quadrant). Ball is very clean through the heads and tends to read the heads very well. This ball has a very strong backend move especially on longer patterns and fresh oil patterns. Once the heads started to break down some the ball smoothed out and stop its angular move. This ball looks like it will find in well on short patterns with flooded heads.

I really like my Saturn. I drilled my Saturn with my pin below my ring finger and my cg kick at a 45 degree. I put the weight hole on my pap. The ball gives me a very clean but angular breakpoint. I would recommend the ball for a medium to light oiled lane condition. I use the ball for my local league house shot and it gives me a very good look. If you have the opportunity to throw a Saturn I wouldn't pass it up. You can't get a better entry level ball to react as good as the Saturn, and still give you the hitting power of a high performance bowling ball.

I drilled my Saturn with pin below ring finger no hole.  This ball revs up in the midlane and is very smooth at the backend.  I think this ball would be great for most league shots.  At this price point you won't find ball reaction like this one you can't go wrong. This ball is much stronger than its pearl counterpart the mercury.  Those of you looking for something smooth off the spot give the saturn a try.   For a $110 you won't hit your wallet hard either.

RECENTLY GOT A SATURN DRILLED. HAVE THE PIN RIGHT OF THE RING FINGER.  LOVE THE REACTION.  BOWLED WELL IN TORUNEYS IN WETSERN NEW YORK WITH IT.  ALSO WORKS VERY WELL ON THE EASIER LEAGUE  PATTERNS.  .. WITH THE PRICE OF THE BALL,,, HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE MARKET..

I finally got my Saturn drilled, i alike it alot. This ball is very
great on lanes that dry heads and oil carry down.
I drilled my Saturn  with the pin above the bridge and the cg kick out 1/2inch and shiny. This ball  reads the midlane very smooth. It goes down 3 to 4 feet than the Mercury and has little sharper break point. This very great for the price for the entry level. I strongly recommend this ball to everybody that needs some help fighting the lanes that have the heads gone and backend  carry down. I used mine the Generation gap Tournament and won it with averaging 238 with my partner .

With this ball you are getting more than what you are paying for with most entry level balls.

For me I have drilled this ball pin high above the fingers with the drill pattern rotated away from the CG for a little additional kick. I found that this ball reads the lanes quite well, especially when the lanes start to break down and you need a ball to turn to.

If the box finish does not work, I have sanded mine to 2000 using an avalon pad, and polished it using a high gloss polish, with this the ball seems to read the lanes better and will add additional length.

This ball is the perfect piece to eliminate the break down problems that most bowlers encounter on a nightly basis, and again for the price you can`t beat the saturn.

This review will be short and sweet.

Layout: 4 3/4 by 5- the pin is above & just left of ring finger-pics later
Surface: I took the box surface and added 3C polish
Reaction: Great length w/ a smooth motion of the dry, along w/ continous backend reaction. "Suprising"!!

Overall:
This ball is a nice suprise.

More detailed info later....

Ball specs – 15 lbs 4 oz, 2.96 top weight, 2.75 inch pin.

Punched this Roto-Grip planet ball 4.75” X 45 degrees with the pin below the ring finger about ½ inch.  Also took the cover up to 1000 and polished with Storm Reactashine.  The cover stock seems to take adjustments very well as it sanded and polished easily.

With any oil in the heads, the Saturn provided very easy length through the fronts and into the late mid-lane.  When friction was found in the back, the ball responded with a smooth arc and hit surprisingly well for an entry-level product.  With some carry down in the back the Saturn seemed to hit a bit weak as plink 10’s were the result.  Creating more axis rotation solved this issue as the Saturn responded well to hand position changes.  The Saturn remained smooth and predictable even with the additional axis rotation.

The Saturn, and the entire Roto-Grip entry level Planet line, provides the best performance for the price in the industry.

If anyone can find me another ball on the market at this price point that is this good in oil, then I will print out this review and eat it!

The Saturn has a brand new cover base that Roto Grip is using that provides great traction in oil and smoothens out the transition from oil to dry boards.  This new cover is extremely grabby in the out of box finish.  If you play it in the dry early, expect to have a hard time keeping it on your side of the lane.  When the big balls are hooking early, this one will too.  The formula behind the Saturn is very simple, a low priced ball that will give you an option in heavier amounts of oil.

I drilled this Saturn with the pin at 5" from my pap and 2" above the midline, this landed the pin right into the ring finger hole.  I left it without an x hole to start with.  For me this gives me a great option in heavier volumes when the Horizon Solid is giving me too much angle on the backend.  On heavier patterns with clean backends, the Saturn is a stallion.  Playing direct lines gives you a great look on these patterns because you have the control up front from the low diff core, and the strength in the oil from the strong cover with a smooth transition in the back.

Due to me not seeing many high volume shots, and me already having 4 ball choices with surface, I decided to put a large x-hole on my PAP and polish the ball up with Storm React-a-Shine.  To my suprise, the ball reacted much smoother and was about 4 boards less in the backend.  This will work great for me on the really dry stuff when I need to get way inside and play the fallback shot.  It's also doubling as my spareball in the meantime until my Cosmos get here due to it's straightness through the fronts.

This is a very versatile piece that will suprise you with how much oil it can handle.  Definately one that you can put your favorite drill pattern on and watch it shine.

Olderack
Lane Conditions: Medium Oil
Typical Conditions: Variety of Shots
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Third Arrow
Did the ball track out? Slow
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
What grit was the surface of the ball? 800
Likes: Dollars vs. performance
Cover Stock: and Solid Reactive
Dislikes: none at this period of time

I compared the Saturn to the Mercury
In a world where Dollars vs. performance
The Saturn surpassed the Mercury which is surprising
Going by the specs
The Saturn is much stronger than the ball specs suggested.
If you like the Mercury which in my thought was the most under rated mid price or mid condition ball to date.
Factory finish 800 Machine Sanded
The cover stock is very adjustable and the large core stores energy
Very clean thru the heads nice mid-lane read and smooth STRONG arcing transition on the back end
This offering from Roto Grip should not be overlooked by anyone.
What more can you ask for

Much like the Venus, this is a very versitile ball. It is a lot smoother off the spot than the Venus or the Mercury and a lot stronger, but can be manipulated a lot via layout. For dollar value, there isn't a better ball on the market.

Axis rotation: Approx. 30 deg
Desription:

-----------Xhole
 O------cg

Condition used was PBA Regional Pattern 3(38Ft) and THS(38Ft)
Pattern #3 Lane condition was Guardian with wood backends.
I used a dull surface at about 800 grit on this pattern and the ball was very mild and had a even reaction down lane.  This ball worked great once the lanes broke down a bit and needed something to get through the heads and still hold down lane.
THS is AMF synthetic conditions are med oil for our areas THS
This ball gives a strong smooth read. The Saturn has a very smooth and controlled reaction and did not react to strong.

Line being played
Pattern #4 10/ 7 @ 38-40ft                                                                                                   THS 15/8 @ 40 ft on fresh

Overall Thoughts
This ball is great for use on med to light oil pattern with short to med length. It give a good read. Ball has good carry. The balls reaction didn’t change much from 600-800. Polished the ball was more flippy than even as it retained too much energy.
I can’t really compare to other equipment as I just re-built my arsenal and have never thrown anything with a layout like this before.

Smooth and predictable on light to medium conditions. I dont mess with the cover much so it is OOB. Does not overreact off the break.

FOR THE PRICE THE SATURN IS A GREAT BALL. OUT OF THE BOX DULL IT WAS A LITTLE UNIMPRESSIVE. I PUT THE BALL IN A MACHINE POLISHER FOR 2 MINUTES AND I WAS NOW IMPRESSED. THE SATURN BECAME SUPERBALL.TADA!!!!! IT  WAS NOW OVERLY VERSATILE. I WAS ABLE TO PLAY DOWN THE TRACK ON A HOUSE SHOT OR MY NORMAL INSIDE/OUT OR A DEEPER LINE 25 TO 12. I AM A POWER STROKER AND WITH THIS BALL IT CAN HANG WITH EVEN MY OILER OR MIDLANE BALLS. ALL IT REQUIRES IS HAND POSITION CHANGES. ON FRIDAY IN MY LEAGUE WHICH IS ON A SECOND SQUAD WITH CARRY DOWN HOUSE SHOT WHICH CAUSED AN OUT OF BOUNDS FROM BOARDS 1-3, MY INFINITE 1 AND FULL THROTTLE WERE IFFY. ISWITCHED TO THE SATURN PLAYING THE TRACK WOW WHAT ZOOM. IMOVED TO STANDING AT 20 , PUT THE BALL AT 19 TO 8 AND VOILA, POWER SHOT. I CHANGED MY HAND TO ROLL WITH A FULL ROLLER PLAYING 22 TO 17 TIGHT SHOT AND MY GAME S WENT FOM CRAP TO 222 AND 259. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BALL TO ALL AS A GREAT "OL' RELIABLE"  BALL . BUY, BUY ,BUY THIS BALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
